In 2024, we were blessed with some of the most bonkers and explosive reality TV scandals ever.
From the expected Married at First Sight cheating scandals to unexpected infidelity on The Block (IYKYK), right down to friendship fallouts we never saw coming, there was something for every reality TV die-hard.
In no particular order, we’ve compiled the best scandals to bless (or perhaps plague) our screens this year.
Jack Dunkley dumping his girlfriend for Married at First Sight Australia 2024
No matter the dating show, at least one participant is accused of dumping their bae to pursue their 15 minutes of fame.
On Married at First Sight Australia 2024, that person was Jack Dunkley. He was first outed for giving his girlfriend Courtney the flick just days before he graced our screens.
Courtney learned that Jack was on the show a few weeks into filming, thanks to some paparazzi pics that leaked from his wedding to Tori Adams.
But here’s the clanger — they’d split because the TV groom had claimed he was moving to America for a new job opportunity. Oops!
The saga even made it onto the show, with Jack constantly contradicting himself when trying to explain away their relationship.
What made it worse was an unaired storyline that included Jack sharing intimate images of Courtney with his co-stars.
Meanwhile, Courtney continued going rogue with tea about Jack on social media and later claimed to So Dramatic! that she and the personal trainer slept together multiple times after the show wrapped. Yikes!
Despite this (and by some miracle), Jack and Tori overcame this major spanner in their marriage and are living their best lives on the Gold Coast.
Married at First Sight 2024‘s Jack Dunkley’s ‘muzzle’ comment about Lauren Dunn
While battling secret girlfriend allegations, Jack repeatedly went up against co-star Lauren Dunn throughout the experiment. And it was by far our favourite feud of 2024!
In an unaired chat, Jack allegedly told Jonathan McCullough that if there were to be a Couple Swap, whoever was matched with his wife Tori would be allowed to sleep with her so he didn’t have to. Eek…
Naturally, Jonathan told his TV bae Lauren, who exposed Jack for his slimy comment at the following dinner party.
Jack responded by telling Jonathan to “muzzle his woman“. And to say that sh*t hit the fan would be an understatement!
Consequently, Jack and Lauren were on bad terms for the rest of the experiment…
Jonathan McCullough and Ellie Dix’s ‘cheating’ scandal on Married at First Sight 2024
Speaking of Jonathan and cheating scandals, the fan-dubbed “coward” was caught up in his own towards the end of the season. And we reckon this is the most shocking cheating scandal of 2024!
During a dinner party, Tori revealed that Jonathan said he’d rather have been matched with Ellie Dix. To make matters worse, it was later revealed he’d been texting Ellie behind Lauren’s back.
This admission and Jonathan’s 100+ texts to Ellie were enough to make Lauren LOSE it. But things hit boiling point when Ellie — originally matched with Ben Walters — returned for the Reunion hand-in-hand with Jonathan.
So Dramatic! reported ahead of the incident airing that Lauren was “blindsided” by their hard launch.
However, to add insult to injury, “most of the cast knew” ahead of the Reunion that Jonathan and Ellie were an item. Ouch!
Ellie’s TV bae Ben told So Dramatic! after the fact that he “didn’t buy” the relationship and suspected the pair were drumming up drama for clout.
Despite it all, the controversial couple are still together. They’ve since started a cosmetic company together and bought a house!
Lucinda Light and Timothy Smith’s post-Married at First Sight fallout
Lucinda Light and Timothy Smith‘s falling out has to be up there with some of the most devastating news of 2024.
The duo were crowned the “mum and dad” of MAFS 2024 and, for a time, the best of friends.
That is until it all started to unravel in June when it appeared the duo had unfollowed each other. Timothy then shared a series of not-so-subtle TikToks hinting that his time wasn’t “respected”.
He later denied his TikToks referred to Lucinda, adding that he wishes her “all the best” and that “people’s paths take different directions”.
Meanwhile, Lucinda later took to Instagram to address the breakdown of their friendship and take responsibility for any hurt she caused her TV husband.
Lucinda also told So Dramatic! that her “doors and arms will always be open to Timbo.”
More recently, Timothy did a bombshell tell-all interview on the So Dramatic! podcast about their feud, and let’s just say he did not hold back!
Love Island‘s Matt Zukowski’s cheating allegations ahead of wedding to influencer Tammy Hembrow
Where do we even begin?! From cheating allegations to prenup speculation, onlookers have been subject to a LOT of drama surrounding Love Island Australia 2019‘s Matt Zukowski and his influencer bae, Tammy Hembrow.
After dating speculation arose in September, Matt and Tammy hard-launched their relationship on social media in October.
Cut to a few weeks later, the reality star proposed to his gal in the Maldives, and so began the rumours that Matt was playing up on Tammy behind the scenes.
It all kicked off in March when he was exposed for sending flirty DMs to another woman on a night out. While he claimed he was reaching out in a bid to set his single mate up, fans weren’t convinced and the cheating claims just kept coming,
Despite being set to marry Tammy in November, sources told So Dramatic! that Matt allegedly cheated on her at the beginning of their relationship with his ex, Genevieve.
The insiders claimed they were “sleeping together” and going on dates while he was dating Tammy.
One source confirmed that Matt was trying to get back with Genevieve “as late as October 2023”. For those playing at home, that’s just weeks before he proposed to Tammy.
But wait! There’s more! Matt was recently spotted with a mystery lady while his fiancée was holidaying in Greece.
Of course, Matt denied this was anything sinister, commenting on a post by Influencer Updates AU that the woman was a “mate” who shared the same management as him.
The wedding went ahead, with Matt and Tammy tying the knot in a lavish Bryon Bay ceremony on November 23.
Mimi Belperio and Brad Baker’s ‘cheating’ scandal on The Block 2024
No one had The Block being rocked by a cheating scandal on their bingo cards, but 2024 surpassed all expectations.
Midway through the season, it was reported that Brad and Kylie Baker‘s relationship was on the rocks after a series of explosive messages between Brad and another co-star were unearthed.
So Dramatic! then revealed that Kylie “walked in on Brad in a compromising position with Mimi [Belperio]” after a night of drinking.
When the incident finally aired, Brad and Mimi got flirty while drinking after-hours. Kylie, who was “napping” next to them, overheard him tell Mimi he’d “follow [her] OnlyFans”, causing her to QUIT the show.
During their drunken chat, Brad also asked Mimi, “Are you going to call me again in the morning or what? How come you called me?”
Mimi then replied, “I don’t want to talk about it. What I do when I’m drunk is none of my business.”
Despite breaking up after filming, a source told So Dramatic! that the pair are “back together” and “making things work for the sake of their (four) kids”.
Meanwhile, Mimi and her husband, Kristian Belperio, appear as strong as ever.
Breakdown of Farmer Wants a Wife‘s Claire Saunders and Andrew Coleman’s engagement
This year also brought with it several shock breakups. The most notable is that of the Farmer Wants a Wife 2023 couple, Claire Saunders and Andrew Coleman.
After leaving the show together partway through filming, the couple were well on their way to making it official after getting engaged in March 2024.
However, fans were shocked when Claire took to Instagram in July to announce they had cancelled their September wedding “due to reasons out of [their] control”.
Confusingly, one of Andrew’s mates told So Dramatic! the wedding was “postponed”, not cancelled.
It soon became clear that things were awry when Claire was spotted selling her wedding dress on Facebook and calling her bae a “f*ckwit” in the comments.
Come September, the reality star made several shocking allegations about the farmer on social media, stating he’d followed her to Tasmania and stolen her car.
She then backtracked on these claims, telling her followers her posts were “twisted out of context” and she never felt “unsafe” in her relationship.
On September 16, the farmer finally ended all the speculation, telling his Instagram followers that the duo had split for good.
The Block‘s Jesse Maguire and Paige Beechey quit the show amid mental health battle
Jesse Maguire and Paige Beechey‘s dramatic exit from The Block 2024’s landmark 20th season of the renovation show just weeks into filming has to be up there with this year’s biggest reality TV scandals.
The engaged couple announced they were leaving the renovation show in Week Five to preserve their mental well-being and “save their relationship”.
Paige So Dramatic! that quitting the landmark 20th season “was easily the best decision” they made. However, an insider later dished that producers “didn’t give them a choice” but to pack their bags.
The Block‘s psychologist deemed the engaged couple “too unstable” to continue the show after several “explosive blow-ups”.
After their exit aired, Paige took to TikTok with a three-part storytime of her experience, dragging The Block through the mud.
The Western Australian slammed the show for using her mental health as a “gross cash grab” and for making her “look crazy”.
Speculation about Jesse and Paige’s relationship later arose after they announced they’d pulled the plug on their pending nuptials.
While she said they’d revisit wedding plans come 2025, the couple surprised fans in November with an Instagram post revealing they had eloped while holidaying in Paris. It was captioned: “Husband and Wife”.
Farmer Wants a Wife 2024’s Farmer Tom ghosting Krissy Smith and Sarah Cranley
The 2024 season of Farmer Wants a Wife did not disappoint in the drama department and was plagued with scandals.
However, the most shocking was the explosive claims that sweetheart, Farmer Tom, was “rude ” and “immature behind the scenes.
During the finale, Tom brutally dumped Krissy Smith after deciding to leave the show with Sarah Cranley.
Krissy later dished in episode 400 of the So Dramatic! podcast that she and Tom had slept together during filming, which made him choosing Sarah sting even more!
After Sarah announced on May 26 that she and the farmer had gone their separate ways, more brutal truths emerged about Tom, including the fact he ghosted all of his suitors post-show!
Appearing on episode 400 of the So Dramatic! podcast with Krissy, Sarah also confessed her former flame went MIA.
According to Sarah, Tom ghosted her “for six days” despite having planned for him to visit her in Perth.
“I called him to see if I was picking him up from the airport, but he didn’t answer. It was crickets from him. And that’s when I pulled the plug.”

FBOY Island Australia 2024‘s gay FBoy Nathan Giastis
FBOY Island Australia 2024‘s Nathan Giastis came out as gay to the show’s leading ladies in a twist nobody — and we mean NOBODY — saw coming!
The show typically follows three women trying to decipher which of their 24 suitors are “Nice Guys” and “FBoys”.
However, the ladies were shocked by what they found when they stalked the men on social media.
Nathan’s TikTok was full of LGBTQIA+ hashtags and references to the gay community, leading them to question whether he was there for the ~right reasons~.
When confronted, he admitted to Nicole Mitrov that he was a “gay FBoy”. He then convinced her to let him stick around to help the ladies detect which other men were FBoys. Lowkey iconic!
Domenica Calarco and Ella Ding’s Sit With Us podcast backlash
And finally, the pièce de résistance of reality TV scandals: the sh*tshow that was MAFS besties Domenica Calarco and Ella Ding‘s podcast downfall.
It all kicked off in May when the controversial duo interviewed equally controversial MAFS 2024 couple Jack and Tori on their podcast, Sit With Us.
Many listeners felt it was inappropriate to give Jack a platform, given his vile behaviour on the show. Some also expressed that they felt the self-proclaimed feminists sided with the groom and “victim-blamed” his co-star Lauren over the “muzzle” debacle.
Backlash mounted when the co-hosts released an “apology” episode, which was widely perceived as them doubling down on their stance.
Domenica later deleted her social media and carried out a 21-day stay in a mental health facility. She then jetted overseas with family while Ella continued to host Sit With Us alone.
The 32-year-old’s absence understandably sparked rumours something was awry behind the scenes.
And lo and behold, it was!
The end of Domenica Calarco and Ella Ding’s friendship
After Domenica sneakily dropped Sit With Us from her Instagram bio, she took to the podcast’s private Facebook group on August 7 to announce the end of their two-year tenure on the airwaves.
She claimed the decision “wasn’t made lightly” and came with a “mix of emotions”.
Ella didn’t address Sit With Us‘ cancellation until August 9, confirming the news was true but admitted it was a “positive” move.
The announcement came after sources told So Dramatic! that Ella was trying to “distance herself” from her MAFS bestie after raising concerns over Domenica’s “non-existent” work ethic amid the backlash.
Speculation about their friendship status reached fever pitch when Domenica and Ella unfollowed each other on Instagram.
Domenica has since launched her solo podcast, Mad Woman, during which she spilled some deets about her fallout with Ella.
According to Domenica, her pal preferred to ignore the backlash while she “wanted to face it head on”.
Amid several snarky social media posts, Ella told Daily Mail that “all good things come to an end”.
However, she has teased that she’s starting her own podcast, so we guess we’ll just be waiting with bated breath to hear the tea!
