Married at First Sight Australia 2024‘s Ben Walters has revealed that he “doesn’t buy” Ellie Dix and Jonathan McCullough‘s relationship.

ICYMI: Ellie, who was matched with Ben, and Jonathan, who was paired with Lauren Dunn, were caught texting during the experiment.

Despite insisting they were “just friends”, they hard-launched their romance when they entered the Reunion hand-in-hand. Ouch.

From hinting they’re in a showmance to spilling the moment he knew they liked each other, Ben revealed all the goss about Ellie and Jonathan during his explosive tell-all interview in episode 379 of the So Dramatic! podcast.

Married at First Sight‘s Ben Walters thinks Ellie Dix and Jonathan McCullough’s relationship is for ‘publicity’

Speaking to host Megan Pustetto, Ben admitted that he “didn’t buy” Ellie and Jonathan’s relationship, hinting that they may be doing it for publicity.

“I don’t buy what they’re up to and what they’re trying to do,” he said. “I think they’re onto something. They’ve got feelings for each other… But I’m not buying the smugness.” Interesting…

The tour guide then said he thought the pair were trying to become the next Duncan James and Evelyn Ellis when they rocked up at the Reunion together.

“I think they got together and hatched up a scheme [to be] Duncan and Evelyn and live happily ever after, but it backfired,” he laughed.

Ben then dropped a huge bombshell, admitting that he caught onto Ellie and Jonathan’s romance after a run-in at a park during filming.

“Ellie and I were going for a run around Centennial Park. We bumped into Jono, they started chatting, and it was like I wasn’t even there,” he recalled.

To add fuel to the fire, this was when Ellie admitted she “only had eyes” for Ben. And sure, Jan!

Married at First Sight’s Ben spills on Ellie’s ‘VINDICTIVE’ side and reveals her plans to get more airtime

Ben then stated Ellie always had this “little vindictive side“.

“Trust is earned, and I never trusted Ellie because it takes time,” he spilled, explaining that these trust issues all stemmed from her reaction after he mocked her.

“I f*cked up, I owned it and regretted it, and we talked it out,” he recalled. “She accepted my apology, and we were in a fantastic space.”

However, Ben explained that Ellie brought up the issue again at the dinner party to get more airtime.

“She wanted me to get more involved in drama, [but] I don’t do drama… I felt like she wanted drama to get more airtime.

“That was a turning point for me where I [wondered] if she was after our best interests or her best interests,” he admitted.

Ben then said that he wasn’t surprised that the public was against Ellie.

“I felt like she was hatching up a rather sinister plan. And lo and behold, that bloody backfired.”

MAFS’ Ben reveals the truth about his ‘ick list’, stating Ellie ‘played the victim’

The former groom also revealed that Ellie “played the victim” when it came to his list of things he didn’t like about her.

“It was not an ick list. It wasn’t anything negative or a list of things I didn’t like about Ellie. She just played into that to play the victim,” he explained.

“I wrote all the pros and cons about both of us, things we were struggling with and things we needed to work on. But because our communication style is completely off, things blew up very fast.”
