A Married at First Sight Australia 2024 insider has revealed it was Jonathan McCullough and Ellie Dix‘s idea to debut their relationship at the Reunion.
ICYMI: sh*t went DOWN during the April 7 episode with Jonathan and Ellie confirming that they’re now an item, despite the groom previously insisting that there was nothing between them after being busted texting Ellie behind wife Lauren Dunn‘s back.
While Jonathan seemingly tried to spare Lauren’s feelings during the experiment, it’s since been revealed that all bets were off when planning his Reunion entrance.
“Jono and Ellie were the ones who decided to come to the Reunion together,” a production insider told So Dramatic!. “It was all their idea.
“They asked the producers if they could go together as a couple, and the producers were all for it because they knew it would obviously cause major drama.”
However, producers were shocked that the couple wanted to do this “given Jono was adamant nothing was going on, and it would prove Lauren was right“.

According to the source, several participants “actually told them not to [debut their relationship at the Reunion] because it wasn’t a good look”.
“Jono said he didn’t care,” they added. “He and Ellie were happy and they wanted everyone to know it.
“Jono knew it would upset Lauren. That’s why he chose to blindside her and not give her a heads-up about it.
“It was done out of pure vengeance.” Sheesh!
This comes after Lauren claimed “the majority of the cast” knew that Jonathan and Ellie had started a romance, but no one told her.
