The Block 2024‘s Jesse Maguire and Paige Beechey have made shocking claims about their time on the show and revealed why they really quit.

ICYMI: It was revealed well before the 20th season of the renovation show premiered on August 11 that the engaged couple ditched the competition halfway through.

Many reasons for their departure have been speculated, including Jesse and Paige couldn’t hack the build and their relationship was moments away from crumbling.

As reported in episode 412 of the So Dramatic! podcast, the duo have spilled all to set the record straight.

“One of these theories [why we quit] is that we left to save our relationship,” they said. “Just like all the others we’ve heard so far, it’s not the reason for our departure and is not even close to the truth.”

The pair said they “understand that the network’s narrative might suggest otherwise”.

“However, the true reason won’t start to unfold until around Week Three, and even then, it won’t be played out on camera for the audience in true form,” Paige and Jesse explained.

The Block‘s Paige Beechey claims producers fostered an ‘unsafe environment’ for drama

Paige alleged that “a lot of shocking things” unfolded during The Block 2024.

“I know they are going to hide, manipulate or not depict [them] properly, as they have done so already,” the 27-year-old said.

“One of my biggest pain points is how much The Block pretends to care about mental health and really puts up a front that they try to create a safe environment when the reality is that they actively facilitate an unsafe environment because they want drama.” Yikes.

Referring to Jesse’s “breakdown” in Week One, Paige said she approached a producer she “thought [she] could trust” to “express concerns” about her fiancé’s “mental state”.

“I had never seen him like that before,” she said. “I was upset because I didn’t know what to do and specifically asked for the details of the psych to get him booked in.

“This producer rudely responded to me with, ‘I need to learn what is a Block problem and what is not a Block problem,’ and did not give me any details or take my concerns seriously.”

Paige later expressed her disappointment that producers had bombarded Jesse with cameras during this time.

Apparently, they “snapped”, saying, “You signed up for this”.

“It was very confronting to be dismissed so abruptly when it came to serious mental health concerns,” she added.

“I think it looks really bad on the network, especially in this day and age. This is just the starting point of how our story is set to unfold and relates significantly to our departure.”

Jesse and Paige address their ‘villain’ edit on The Block 2024

While The Block viewers have called out “villains” Jesse and Paige for seemingly not knowing what they were getting into, they’ve denied this is the case.

“We’re not naive to the absolute chaos they are chalking our experience up to be. It’s a shame that everything that has been shown is not in the context in which it happened, edited to the absolute gods and sometimes not even in the right week,” they revealed.

And welcome to reality TV, folks!

“Our time on The Block was filled with far more good times than bad times, and we had a great relationship with our builder, which continues to this very day,” the couple revealed.

“We also maintain strong friendships with all our castmates, including our wonderful replacements. We keep in touch with sponsors and local business owners from the island daily.”

Jesse and Paige said the show “missed a big opportunity” by not “focusing on the mateship and camaraderie” between teams.

“It would have been something truly worth watching,” they added. “But then again, the show would become boring pretty quickly without Paige.”

True dat!

Insiders back claims Jesse and Paige quit The Block ‘of their own accord’

With Paige hinting that she and Jesse left for mental health’s sake, a The Block insider confirmed the couple “made the decision” themselves.

“They weren’t kicked off the show, as has been reported by some outlets. It was definitely on their own accord,” the source told So Dramatic!.

“The producers were blindsided. They just up and left and didn’t say anything. They didn’t know where they had gone or if they were coming back; they just cracked and had enough.”

And if what Jesse and Paige have spilled is to be believed, we don’t blame them!
