It’s been revealed why Channel Nine really asked a bunch of former contestants to return during The Block 2024.
ICYMI: It was reported ahead of the renovation show’s landmark 20th season that 22 fan-favourite Blockheads would appear on the show to help the new contestants.
Insiders later claimed the move was a “test” to see whether fans would be keen on an All-Star season. However, one former star attached to The Block 2024 said there’s more to it!
As reported in episode 410 of the So Dramatic! podcast, one ex-contestant denied they were “lending a helping hand”.
“We just went for a dinner event with some contestant room winners,” they explained. “We weren’t working on-site this time. Just a special guest appearance sort of thing.”
They added that The Block 2024 “had to be lighthearted” because of the intense drama that went down during the 2023 season.
“Because they went so hard last year, this year it’s all friendly between the teams (A.K.A no drama),” the unnamed Blockhead explained.
“There is a bit of bickering within the teams, but nothing like last year.”
They added that the latest season is “so boring”, which is why Nine “got some previous Block teams to come back to add some excitement”. LOL!
One former The Block team will not be returning in 2024 despite reports
Despite reports that Tom and Sarah-Jane Calleja were among the returning Blockheads, So Dramatic! can reveal they won’t appear on The Block 2024 as they “didn’t make the cut”. Brutal!
Despite this, Tom will still appear solo as part of The Block‘s on-site trades team.
So, who is making a return to The Block this year?
During the August 19 episode, 2023 stars Steph and Gian Ottavio took Week One winners Kristian and Mimi on a tour of their winning home and hosted them overnight.
As such, the following teams are still yet to appear throughout the season:
- Eliza and Liberty (2023)
- Omar and Oz (2022)
- Ronnie and Georgia (2017, 2021)
- Jimmy and Tam (2020)
- Andy and Deb (2019)
- Michael and Carlene (2014)
- Kyal and Kara (2014)
- Alisa and Lysandra (2013, 2014)
- Dale and Sophie (2012)
