The Block 2024 is just getting started, but we’ve been promised a front-row seat to some “horrific” conflict between the couples in the new cast.

The August 12 premiere episode foreshadowed that the tension lies within the couples, flashing forward several weeks to see the duos fighting with each other.

From one contestant accusing her partner of “never listening” to her to another dubbing their husband an “angry little gremlin”, it’s no wonder The Block‘s landmark 20th season is touted to be the most dramatic yet.

One insider told Yahoo Lifestyle that the Phillip Island site has “more conflict than ever before” this season.

“Audiences are going to love guessing which couple is headed to the ‘divorce court’ by the time we see them at auction,” they dished.

“Every couple will be seen in some type of conflict throughout the season.”

They added that producers’ criteria for casting were “couples that love to bicker”, and if that doesn’t say it all, what does?!

“Some couples’ love language is so unfiltered that you will wonder how they got together in the first place,” the source added.

Insider reveals ‘pretty horrific’ drama on The Block 2024

The Block insider said that the cast’s communication style is “pretty horrific”. Plus, it will “create an earthquake of conversation amongst married couples that will make them reflect on their own communication skills”.

“This group of contestants are not coincidentally fighting on camera by mistake,” they said. “Casting would have picked up on that very early into the casting process.

“It is very specific and extremely well executed, making each contestant compelling and exciting for viewers who want more than just building houses.”

The insider concluded: “Audiences will say they want more building… But the creators know the wider audiences want to see people behaving badly, which you will see in spades.”

At least they know their target demographic!

It comes after another insider confessed they “wouldn’t be surprised” if multiple couples split before auction day.
