The Block 2024 is already facing setbacks, with one team reported to have quit just weeks into filming the show.
ICYMI: the landmark 20th season of the hit renovation show is currently underway at Victoria’s Phillip Island, and it seems that a sea change hasn’t stopped the series from being plagued by drama!
Rumours of a team leaving The Block began circulating in a fan group on Facebook, with viewers speculating whether the unnamed duo quit or were removed.
A production insider has since confirmed to Yahoo! Lifestyle that one couple has definitely already departed The Block.
However, the situation may not be as dramatic as fans expect.
“A couple have left,” the source said. “They were definitely not kicked off the show, though; it was on their own accord.”
Now, The Block 2024 being one team down begs the question of whether producers are now scrambling to replace the pair.
But for now, fans will have to “wait until the show airs” to find out.
“It will unfold,” the insider told Yahoo! Lifestyle.
This isn’t the first time a couple has quit The Block
The Block 2024‘s latest bump in the road is giving us some serious déjà vu, with the same thing happening during the show’s tree change season in 2022.
Influencer Elle Ferguson and former footballer Joel Patfull spectacularly quit The Block after two days, citing a family injury as their reason for leaving.
However, several sources denied this was the case.
In fact, the show’s executive producer Julian Cress told the Herald Sun that Elle and Joel expressed that the show wasn’t “on brand” for the couple.
News of another couple quitting The Block comes after a production insider spilled the tea on who the 20th season’s villains are.
