Married at First Sight Australia 2024‘s Jonathan McCullough has revealed why he didn’t tell Lauren Dunn that he was attending the Reunion with Ellie Dix.
In case you’ve been living under a rock, the MAFS 2024 Reunion imploded when Jonathan and Ellie rocked up hand-in-hand. It came after the groom swore black and blue that nothing romantic was going on after he was busted texting the bride behind Lauren’s back.
Lauren, who was “blindsided” upon the reveal, has since dished that the “majority of the cast” knew about the new couple ahead of the Reunion and didn’t tell her.
Now, Jonathan has weighed in on why this is, chalking it up to producers’ instructions.
“We were sworn to secrecy, so we were told we couldn’t tell anyone,” the 39-year-old told Daily Mail Australia.
“The last conversation I had with Lauren was abusive, so I didn’t really feel the need to let her know, and we were told not to, so that was the one condition of us coming back.”

According to Jonathan, producers made the final call that he and Ellie could walk into the Reunion together and made an effort to keep the reveal under wraps.
“Yeah, [producers] were like, ‘You’re not allowed to talk to anyone’. They flew us down separately, so we didn’t get seen together,” he dished.
“They put us in a hotel by ourselves, away from all the other cast members. So yeah, it was a big secret [producers] wanted to keep.”
However, it sounds like someone’s a little salty, with Jonathan saying that while he and Ellie “did the right thing by” production, “they took that and threw it in our face”.
“They [made] it look like we blindsided our partners and [that] we really enjoyed rubbing it in,” he alleged. “We really didn’t.
“Everyone was so happy to see us when we walked in.”
What Jonathan failed to mention is that he and Ellie were the ones to suggest walking into the Reunion together to producers.
One source told So Dramatic! that “Jono knew it would upset Lauren”.
“It was done out of pure vengeance.”
