In the world of reality TV, everyone seems to know everyone, and the cast of Married of First Sight Australia 2023 is no exception.
As always, there’s some serious reality incest going on with this year’s MAFS contestants, and we’re going to get to the bottom of it.
But first, how do these people all know each other in the first place? Why does everyone cast on reality TV seem to be a friend or an ex-lover or a long-lost relative of another contestant?
It’s honestly like some sort of referral scheme or an MLM scheme and the producers are at the top of the pyramid!
Well, it turns out it’s no accident.
As revealed in episode 258 of the So Dramatic! Podcast, an insider dished that producers actually ask people in their applications if they know anyone from reality TV!
“They legit ask you in your application for all these shows if you know anyone from reality tv – they lap that stuff up!” they explained.
“They want people who know each other it just creates more hype for the show.” And this is true as we all love playing the who-knows-who game.
They added: “They ask you who you know and how you know them!” Wow, it really is sounding like some sort of conspiracy…
So there you have it peeps… We finally know why the incest rates are so high in the reality TV world!
Which of the Married at First Sight 2023 cast are linked to other reality stars?
Unsurprisingly, this year’s MAFS cast have a lot of connections to former reality stars. And we’re here to expose these connections, because as someone once said: “you are the company you keep”.
Jesse Burford
Turns out our favourite marriage celebrant is no stranger to MAFS brides. So Dramatic! can reveal that the 31-year-old used to date Season Four bride Sharon Marsh from the 2017 season.
Jesse is also mates with Season Eight brides Booka Nile (from the death-metal scene in Perth) and Beck Zemek, as well as Season Seven star Aleks Markovich.
But that’s not all! So Dramatic! can reveal he’s hooked up with Steph Lynch from Jimmy Nicholson’s season of The Bachelor in 2021, and we’ve gotta say, this would be a super entertaining pair.
Dan Hunjas
The 42-year-old business owner also has a few reality TV connections up his sleeve.
The TV groom is connected to Season Nine’s Cody Bromley, as well as Real Housewives of Melbourne stars Janet Roach and Simone Elliot.
Claire Nomarhas
Much like her on-screen hubby Jesse, Claire Nomarhas has also dated reality stars in the past.
The 31-year-old kindergarten used to be in a relationship with Pat Calleja from My Kitchen Rules, who is also the brother of Tom Calleja from The Block.
The incest continues!
Melissa Sheppard
Controversial bride Melissa Sheppard also has connections to the reality TV world and is friends with The Block’s Mitch Edwards and Mark McKie.
Adam Seed
Adam Seed, AKA one half of this year’s cheating scandal, is mates with Season Nine groom Brent Vitiello. And we’ve gotta say, we’re a bit surprised about this one…
Layton Mills
It turns out 35-year-old entrepreneur Layton Mills is friends with the Australian Idol, Big Brother and MAFS star Jason Roses. Whew, that was a mouthful!
He’s also mates with Bachelor babes Kiki Morris and Bec Cvikilias.
Caitlin McConville
Fan favourite Caitlin McConville has a lot of famous names in her contact list thanks to her makeup career.
She’s also followed on the ‘gram by Love Island’s Chris Graudins and Holly Oaks Ferguson, footballer Samuel Stratis and The Bachelorette’s Todd King (before he deleted his Instagram of course).
Bronte Schofield
Speaking of Todd, he also used to date Bronte Schofield and she was allegedly caught texting him during filming. We can’t wait to watch this one unfold!
Harrison Boon
Harrison Boon doesn’t really need an introduction here. As we all know by now he was dating The Bachelors 2023 star Abby Miller just before entering MAFS. Scandal!
Evelyn Ellis
Intruder bride Evelyn Ellis has quite a few reality TV connections.
She’s followed on Instagram by Beauty and the Geek‘s Josie Werner, Love Island‘s Kim Hartnett, Nicholas Love and Emily Ward and Big Brother VIP‘s Imogen Anthony.
It’s unclear whether she knows these stars personally, but it’s safe to say, they definitely know of her!
Melinda Willis
We’ve saved the best for last… Melinda Willis definitely has the most reality TV connections out of the entire MAFS 2023 cast. This one is going to be longer than our weekly shopping list, so brace yourselves!
The 32-year-old CEO knows A LOT of former MAFS stars, including KC Osborne, Jules Robinson, Joshua Pihlak, Andrew Jones, Cheryl Maitland and Dan Webbs. And of course, Michael Goonan, who she used to date.
But that’s not all! From Love Island, she knows Ashley Irvin, Shelby Bilbly, Josh Moss and Shayne Tino. She’s also friends with Bachie stars Gemma White, Trent Cray, Dave Bilsburrow, Jackson Garlick, Nichole Wood, Matt Pottier and Charlie Newling.
To add to the very long list, she also used to date Jake Ellis and Darvid Garayeli from The Bachelorette.
OMG, we need to stop for air. LOL!
Finally, she also knows Big Brother‘s Skye Wheatley.
