Married at First Sight Australia 2023‘s Melinda Willis hired her co-star Caitlin McConville after she was left with no money after filming the show.

The 32-year-old beauty entrepreneur has founded several businesses, including Melly’s Beauty Parlour in Brisbane, where she appears to have enlisted makeup artist Caitlin to work.

Photos of the duo have been shared on the business’ website, revealing that they are both available for bookings.

Melinda is listed as the “owner and master technician”. Meanwhile, Caitlin is classed as a “senior technician” who specialises in lashes and brows.

A source told Yahoo! Lifestyle that Caitlin found herself out of work after being forced to quit her job to appear on MAFS.

After filming of the 10th season wrapped up, the Queenslander struggled to land a new gig.

“Melinda then offered to help her out as they’ve become very close since filming ended,” the insider said. “She’s got a huge soft side viewers haven’t seen on the show yet.”

Melinda is also the founder of Feather Sisters — a beauty website that hit over $1 million in sales in 2020 alone — as well as the up-and-coming fashion label BSSA.

How much do participants make on Married at First Sight?

While it may be hard to believe someone could end up broke after appearing on MAFS, several former stars have dished to So Dramatic! that they essentially get paid jacksh*t to go on the show.

MAFS participants are paid just $150 per day, with this sum contributing towards any and all expenses they had at the time.

‘We paid for all expenses,” one former star revealed. “Outfits, haircuts, food, bills… you name it.”

Further, in episode 169 of the So Dramatic! podcast’s AFTERMAFS series, season eight groom Liam Cooper said they got nothing for their clothing allowance.

“They only gave us a $150 budget and then the rest we had to put in and that’s all we were given as a reimbursement,” he dished.

No wonder they’re all vying for that verified status — they need followers and brand sponsorships to make ends meet!
