As season 9 of I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! Australia 2023 has come to an end, we’re sure everyone is wondering: who will be replacing long-time host Chris Brown?
The vet recently announced that he was departing from Network Ten to move across to Channel Seven, and according to the Herald Sun, a handful of personalities are in the running to replace him.
Insiders reckon comedian Sam Pang will be the new I’m A Celebrity co-host
Now, Ten is yet to officially reveal who’ll be taking over the big hosting gig. However, insiders have told an outlet that Aussie comedian Sam Pang is a “prime contender” to fill the role and we LOVE this!
“[Sam] could provide a fresh spin on the popular reality show with his comedic genius,” the insider dished.
“Our viewers love a good laugh and Sam’s knack for making even the most serious situations hilarious is just what we need to bring a new dynamic to the show,” they added.
Fans are also convinced that Celeste Barber has a shot at securing the role, as she recently posted a snap with long-time host Julia Morris at the TV Week Logies nomination breakfast in Sydney.
And if you ask us, we think the comedian would make a great addition to the show!
Who else is in the running to host I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!
Carrie Bickmore and Tommy Little have also been rumoured to replace Chris AND his co-host.
The pair co-host the Hit Network’s drive show Carrie and Tommy, and also worked together on Channel Ten’s The Project.
Comedian Joel Creasey, who was previously a contestant on I’m A Celebrity in 2015, is another name tipped to step into Chris’ hosting shoes.
TV presenter Darren McMullen is also a potential host, as he worked with Network Ten on The Real Love Boat.
Former AFL star Shane Crawford is the third name that’s been thrown around. The 48-year-old tackled the jungle on the show’s fifth season and quickly became a fan favourite, leading critics to believe that he will be co-hosting the show alongside Julia.
Neighbours stars Dave Thornton and Rob Mills and The Project’s Sam Taunton are also rumoured to take over the hosting gig.
Fans have also been speculating that Australian Idol host Scott Tweedie will be stepping into the role.
So as it stands, there are a lot of potential co-hosts on the horizon!
Chris Brown worked at Network Ten for the past 15 years
Chris Brown first joined Network Ten in 2008 to host Bondi Vet, which became a global hit until it was canned in 2016.
He then became the co-host of The Living Room alongside Amanda Keller, Barry Du Bois and Miguel Maestre until it was axed last year.
In 2015, Chris found undeniable chemistry with Julia when they lead the charge into the jungle for the inaugural Aussie I’m A Celebrity season.
They also teamed up again in 2019 for the short-lived variety show, Chris and Julia’s Sunday Night Takeaway.
The Bachelor host Osher Gunsberg almost hosted I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! Australia
Long-time The Bachelor host Osher Gunsberg was also in the running to host I’m A Celebrity, but he was deemed too controversial for the role.
Over the years he’s opened up about mental health and his struggles with alcoholism, and according to Daily Mail Australia, the Network Ten bosses weren’t willing to risk a potential PR disaster.
“They felt he might say something that would blow up in their faces and create a PR nightmare,” the insider told the outlet.
“It’s disappointing because Osher would have been a fantastic addition to the cast.”
