The Bachelors Australia 2023 producers have revealed that the revamped series will bear a Survivor-like twist, and damn, this show is going to be off the HOOK.
After dismal ratings in 2021 saw The Bachelor shelved for an entire ratings season, Ten has given the show a YUGE overhaul to bring it back to its glory days.
We’re talking three leads (duh!), Fantasy Suites, flash dates, partner-swapping (MAFS, look away!) AND a potentially very blonde Osher Günsberg.
Now, The Bachelors executive producer Tim Ali has spilled to MediaWeek that the incoming rose ceremonies will “encourage conversation” amid the new format.
And we all know what happens when Bachie gals get talking; the C-Word gets thrown around, and there are tears galore.
“We’ve introduced almost a bit of a Tribal Council feel at the Rose Ceremonies,” Tim explained.
“Osher holds court in a new open forum discussion with all the ladies in the house, giving them a chance to get anything off their chest they feel that they need to.”
He continued: “It encourages conversation, and it’s given us some drama too, which is nice!”
Maybe next year, they can throw in the addition of Jonathan LaPaglia commentating the Fantasy Suite encounters. Ooh, and mud-fighting for a spot on a group date!
The Bachelors producers spill on the Bachie-swapping twist
The contestants are initially matched with one of the three leads: Felix Von Hofe, Thomas Malucelli and Jed McIntosh.
However, their pairing isn’t the be-all or end-all of their journey.
As exclusively revealed by So Dramatic!, the Bachelors and their contestants are given a chance to swap partners as they see fit.
As such, producer Tim said it was “important” to cast people from different backgrounds.
“We wanted to give the ladies of this season a choice, and I think that’s the biggest difference in the series,” he explained.
“if you don’t connect with one of our bachelors, it doesn’t mean that your search for love is over.
“We were really trying to mimic the dating world in real life.”
And if he means “dating world in real life” as being dealt subpar white men, then yup, spot on!
The Bachelors Australia 2023 kicks off on January 9 on Channel 10.
