Alyssa Barmonde earned herself the title of ‘most-hated bride’ during the 2023 season of Married at First Sight Australia following her controversial behaviour. However, her cast members have rallied behind her, claiming she is the victim of a bad edit.

The single mother-of-one has been inundated with support from her co-stars, who have taken to social media to show love for the former bride who copped backlash en masse following her treatment towards husband Duncan James.

In a series of Instagram posts that the former executive assistant reposted to her own page, her castmates claimed that she was edited badly and is “one of the nicest people ever.”

Here’s what each of them had to say about Alyssa:

Lyndall Grace

Fellow bride Lyndall Grace expressed during an Instagram Q&A that everyone on the show “loved Alyssa”, adding, “I probably couldn’t name one person that didn’t”.

Rupert Budgen & Ollie Skelton

Intruder Rupert Budgen chimed in, saying in an Instagram video taken with Ollie Skelton that she was “massively blindsided” by how she was portrayed on the show.

“She’s a sweetheart, I don’t know how they did that to her. I went to the gym with Duncan often and he was saying nothing about that. He was always talking nicely about her,” he said.

Ollie agreed adding: “She’s a sweetheart”.

Tahnee Cook

Similarly, Tahnee Cook wrote during an Instagram Q&A: “She is that friend that will always be there for you no matter what”, adding that Alyssa was “one of the most beautiful people she’s ever met”.

Melinda Willis & Layton Mills

Beauty boss Melinda Willis also weighed in, saying: “I’m getting on this bandwagon too because I feel like every single [cast member] has exactly the same thing to say about Alyssa”.

She then urged people to use the hashtag ‘Free Alyssa’.

“Let’s get this movement going because you guys are giving her such a horrible time and I promise you if you were there and doing the show with Alyssa, she would absolutely be one of your best friends,” Melinda said.

Her partner Layton Mills also showed his support for Alyssa.

Bronte Schofield

Another bride to share their support for Alyssa was Bronte Schofield. She wrote to her Story: “The cast and myself have sat back and watched the public tear you down over an edit that you had no control over.

“It breaks my heart that people have jumped on the bandwagon to judge a woman who put her heart on the line to find love in the most catastrophic and controversial way despite everything you have going in your everyday life you never let it stop you from being the big-hearted, beautiful woman that you are”.

Alyssa Barmonde responds to the outpouring of love and support from her Married at First Sight castmates

Clearly moved by all the support shown to her, Alyssa replied with a tearful video, writing: “Real tears this morning. Happy ones this time.

“Thank you to all my cast peeps speaking out. It means so so much you have no idea. I feel so validated.”

It comes after Alyssa fled the country following her ‘villain’ edit on the show which saw her lose the executive assistant role she’d held for seven years.
