Between the waterworks and overall chaos Married At First Sight Australia 2023 couple Melinda Willis and Layton Mills seem to have a lot in common, but, are they still together?
Tensions were high between Melinda and Layton in recent episodes of MAFS after the experts introduced the controversial Partner Swap challenge.
The 35-year-old biotech CEO said he “felt attacked” and refused to move back into the apartment with his 32-year-old fashion and beauty CEO wife.
Why Layton really signed up for Married At First Sight
We already know Latyon’s true intentions behind going on the show – and no surprise, it wasn’t for love.
As revealed in episode 265 of the So Dramatic! podcast, Layton’s very own family fed him to the wolves.
“We are a very close family and he is very family-oriented,” the groom’s cousin dished.
“He is using this platform to be seen and known, I’m not going to BS about that [sic].” LOL!”
Inside Melinda and Layton’s Married at First Sight Final Vows
Despite the cracks in their marriage So Dramatic! spilled the beans about their current status in episode 267 of the podcast.
Melinda and Layton are only two out of 24 couples who chose to stay together at Final Vows and who are still together now,
“Melinda and Layton are so in love. She puts him in line. They will be the golden couple. The new [Cameron Merchant] and Jules [Robinson],” one contestant dished.
A second contestant backed up the claims the pair were still happy together.
“At the Reunion, Melinda and Layton looked like a couple. They were kissing and hugging, it was actually really beautiful to watch,” they said.
Sources reveal Melinda and Layton’s relationship might be fake
However, don’t get too excited because a number of sources have made claims their relationship might be an act.
One source told So Dramatic things go awry for Melinda and Layton at their Final Vows.
“They’re not actually together,” a source dished.
“They’re just keeping up appearances for 6-12 months to milk it and get as many opportunities they can and boost their profiles as much as they can and then they will break up.
“It’s all just for publicity because they know couples who stay together end up doing better.
“They want to be the next Cameron and Jules/Michael [Brunelli] and Martha Kalifatidis and once they’ve built their profiles up enough they will go their separate ways.” Makes sense!
Melinda and Layton have been papped together after filming wrapped
And the evidence is stacking up as another insider revealed the truth behind the pair being photographed in public.
“Melinda and Layton are working with a pap and asked him to help them get publicity and keep up the whole facade to make it look like they’re still together. It’s all fake,” they said.
“No one in the cast thinks Melinda and Layton are together. They’re just pretending,” another contestant told So Dramatic!.
“They live in different states so it’s not hard. They’ve barely seen each other since filming wrapped.”
We guess time will tell…
Layton is spotted without his wedding ring
Adding to speculation that Melinda and Layton’s relationship is on the rocks, Layton has been spotted without his wedding ring.
As revealed in episode 272 of the So Dramatic! podcast, one insider saw Layton checking out of a hotel on his own.
“Just checked out of a fancy hotel in Canberra, and MAFS Layton next to me is also checking out,” they dished.
“Very much alone. Very much no ring on.”
However, another source told So Dramatic! that the pair looked very loved up at the Fitzy and Wippa Married at First Sight dinner party.
“Melinda and Layton looked so loved up and were genuinely so friendly and nice. They were SO CUTE AND more loved up than Ollie Skelton and Tahnee Cook,” the source gushed.
Melinda and Layton struggle to make it work long-distance
Things seem to be quite rocky between Melinda and Layton, with insiders claiming that their long-distance relationship is beginning to take a toll on them.
“Melinda and Layton are technically still together, but their relationship hasn’t blossomed like she’d hoped since filming wrapped,” the source told Yahoo Lifestyle.
“They’ve been doing long distance but it’s fizzled a little bit as they’re both so busy running their businesses.”
The insider confessed that they’re not sure the couple will make it.
“As of right now, there are not many sparks flying. Some of the cast think it’s only a matter of time until Layton ends things.”
We hope this isn’t true, because we love these two together!
Melinda and Layton share their plans for the future
During an interview with 9Entertainment, Layton hinted that long-distance would no longer be a problem for the pair.
“If this is going to continue moving forward, I’d probably make the move to Brisbane. I’ve got family up there as well, so that doesn’t bother me too much,” he spilled.
“I think we’re just enjoying the moment now, [and] making sure we really are getting to know each other outside of the confines of the experiment without that pressure.”
Melinda chimed in, expressing that things had been “really, really good” between them.
“It’s a whole new Mel and Layton, and I feel content and I feel secure and really comfortable,” she shared.
“I see Layton in my future, whatever it is. Is it happily ever after? I mean, it feels like it right now.”
