Controversial bride Alyssa Barmonde has “coincidentally” lost her job after receiving a villain edit on Married at First Sight Australia 2023.

The former executive assistant was recently let go from the company where she’d worked for the past seven years.

On April 17, the 35-year-old told The Daily Telegraph that she didn’t believe being made redundant just two weeks after the Finale had aired was any coincidence.

The mother-of-one copped a bad edit during her season of MAFS for mistreating her on-screen husband Duncan James and for using her child as an excuse for her behaviour. Fans even called to have the bride removed from the show, saying she was worse than Harrison Boon, one of the biggest villains in MAFS history.

However, Alyssa claimed that she was unfairly portrayed on the show, stating that the 36-year-old cyber security salesman also played a role in the demise of their relationship.

She also confessed that she went through a “really dark couple of months” when the show was airing, admitting that she couldn’t even watch the whole season once she saw where her edit was heading.

Alyssa Barmonde slams producers for protecting the show over her

In an attempt to challenge her edit, Alyssa asked Channel Nine‘s publicity department to give her access to her Instagram account. However, they denied her request until the show had finished airing in the UK.

“They’re protecting the show and the narrative they’ve created, rather than letting me have my own voice,” she stated.

Alyssa shared that she felt betrayed by producers for making it seem like being a single parent was the reason her relationship didn’t work out. She then revealed that viewers tracked down her number and sent her “vile messages” adding to her emotional turmoil.

As a result of the show, Alyssa has been working on her mental health. According to reports by Confidential, she’s been seeing a therapist three times a week and has “upped” the dosage of her anxiety medication.
