Married at First Sight Australia 2023‘s Duncan James has revealed his on-screen wife Alyssa Barmonde‘s response to his new relationship with Evelyn Ellis. And no, it wasn’t “I have a child.”
Duncan and Evelyn FINALLY hard launched their romance after keeping us guessing for months. However, it seems not everyone was as thrilled as the fans about the new couple-up.
During an appearance on the Fitzy & Wippa show on May 11, the pair shared their co-star’s reaction to their budding new relationship.
“Uh, I’ve reached out to Alyssa numerous times after the show, and no reply,” the cyber security salesman confessed. Ouch.
“And look, that’s okay…because she’s probably hurt and not feeling too good,” he continued.
The 36-year-old then said he tried to offer support to his ex-partner, but he received “no communication” in return.
Awkward.
However, it appears that the 35-year-old has somewhat broken her silence about the new relo between her co-stars.
On May 10, the former executive assistant posted a video to TikTok sharing her adventures in Hawaii.
One user took to the comments section, asking “How do you feel about Duncan and Evelyn being together? I thought she was your friend!” to which the reality star simply replied: “Rip”. Yikes.
On the other hand, the MAXIM covergirl didn’t receive the same frosty reception from her on-screen hubby Rupert Bugden.
In fact, the electrician said he saw it coming! But let’s be honest, we all did…
The hot new couple dropped one final bomb, and this one is spicy!
When asked if they were together during the Fitzy & Wippa’s Married At First Sight Dinner Party on March 23, Duncan responded, “Yes”. Meanwhile, his bae simultaneously said: “We plead the fifth”.
These two deserve a Logie for their performance. Or at least a ticket to the Logies, which our sources say they may have earned…

In an exclusive interview with 9Now on May 10, Duncan and Evelyn participated in an Honesty Box challenge about their relationship.
The first question picked from the box was: “Are you in a relationship?”
“Yes, I am,” Duncan smiled, before turning to the 27-year-old influencer and saying: “Yes, we are,” and our souls have OFFICIALLY left our bodies.
“This is Evelyn and Duncan’s hard launch,” Evelyn chuckled.
“It feels good to finally just say it and it feels kind of exhilarating in a weird freeing way,” she added, unable to keep her massive grin off her face. We need a second to compose ourselves coz we can’t handle this!
Evelyn and Duncan explain how they started dating
Like many great relationships, Duncan revealed that the pair started out as friends.
“We started hanging out a little bit after the show,” he dished.
“Everyone’s sort of friends in the cast, and obviously me and [Evelyn] live in Sydney [so] we probably hung out a little bit more.
“All of a sudden we went [on a couple of nights out], and some of the warm fuzzy feelings happened in my stomach and I thought, ‘What’s this?’
“Then… one thing led to another.”
When asked who went in for the first kiss, the smitten couple pointed their fingers at each other, so it seems like they both had the same idea at the same time. Aww!
The duo have already gone on several romantic dates. Duncan even took Evelyn on a motorbike ride to a secluded beach picnic, and who said chivalry was dead?
The pair have also shared a frisky night out, a boujee dinner date and a very coupley dog walking date.
“That’s the part I’m really looking forward to once we’ve come out and said that we’re in a relationship,” he said.
“We can do all those fun things, and not have to sneak around and share all those great moments together.”
