Married at First Sight Australia 2023’s Duncan James and Evelyn Ellis have finally hard launched their relationship and we knew it was coming.
In an exclusive interview with 9Now on May 10, the pair participated in an Honesty Box challenge.
The first question picked from the box was: “Are you in a relationship?”
“Yes, I am,” the cyber security salesman smiled, before turning to the marketing manager and saying: “Yes, we are,” and our souls have OFFICIALLY left our bodies.
“This is Evelyn and Duncan’s hard launch,” the 27-year-old influencer chuckled.
“It feels good to finally just say it and it feels kind of exhilarating in a weird freeing way,” she added, unable to keep her massive grin off her face. We need a second to compose ourselves coz we can’t handle this!
Evelyn and Duncan explain how they started dating
Like many great relationships, the 36-year-old revealed that the pair started out as friends.
“We started hanging out a little bit after the show,” he dished.
“Everyone’s sort of friends in the cast, and obviously me and [Evelyn] live in Sydney [so] we probably hung out a little bit more.
“All of a sudden we went [on a couple of nights out], and some of the warm fuzzy feelings happened in my stomach and I thought, ‘What’s this?’
“Then… one thing led to another.”
When asked who went in for the first kiss, the smitten couple pointed their fingers at each other, so it seems like they both had the same idea at the same time. Aww!
The duo have already gone on several romantic dates. Duncan even took Evelyn on a motorbike ride to a secluded beach picnic, and who said chivalry was dead?
The pair have also shared a frisky night out, a boujee dinner date and a very coupley dog walking date.
“That’s the part I’m really looking forward to once we’ve come out and said that we’re in a relationship,” he said.
“We can do all those fun things, and not have to sneak around and share all those great moments together.”
What do the Married at First Sight cast think of the new couple?
The lovebirds were asked how their MAFS co-stars reacted to their new relationship.
“We have been welcomed as a couple in the most positive way,” Evelyn responded.
“Obviously [we] gave Rupert [Budgen] a call as well, and got the blessing from [him]! He was very supportive,” Duncan chimed in.
Now, we already confirmed this tea back in March in episode 272 of the So Dramatic! podcast, so it turns out we were right all along! Not bad for a “fake news” site, ey?
Evelyn and Duncan were forced to keep their relationship under wraps
As reported in episode 281 of the So Dramatic! podcast, one insider said the couple were under “strict instructions” to keep their romance on the down low until the show ended in the UK.
“They have been warned if they confirm it in any way, they will be punished,” the source explained.
Apparently, there’s a YUGE reward on the line if they comply.
“They’re holding the promise of attending the Logies over their heads and said they’ll be invited as long as they keep a lid on things,” they added.
“A lot is riding on the success of the series abroad.”
Despite being instructed to keep their relationship private, the pair posted some pretty telling photos on Instagram. However, to the untrained eye, nobody would be able to suspect a thing. Well played.
