Married at First Sight Australia 2023’s Dan Hunjas has been writing bizarre captions on his Instagram posts about his relationship with Sandy Jawanda that paint a very different story from what we’ve seen so far in the show.
ICYMI – The 42-year-old business owner’s new relationship with his wedding guest Samantha Symes was leaked soon after his MAFS debut, with some fans (and producers) suspicious that he’d gone rogue and tipped off the paps.
We’d argue that he’s gone just as rogue on social media…
While showrunners almost definitely have to approve the captions, Dan has done his best to add as much shade as they’d allow.
Honestly, we’d love to see his draft versions…

On January 31, Dan introduced his new TV wife Sandy to the ‘gram after they debuted on Married at First Sight. But his caption already seems a little bit, uhm, off…
“A beautiful bride, with a rich culture 💃 to go with my adventurous and active beach lifestyle,” Dan wrote. Soz, when did we hear about this “lifestyle” that he repeatedly mentions?!
In another post, he added: “Do you think I can add ‘Bollywood Actor’ to my resume with dance moves like these!?” NGL, this one gives us the ick…
Dan’s next few posts were just filled with ‘dad jokes’ and dodgy puns. But on February 8, Dan’s captions start to become a little more ominous.
“Confessions week highlights some great alignment in goals and values, along with some differences when it comes to relationship experience, intimacy, interests and lifestyle compatibilities,” Dan wrote.
He added: “I’m choosing to shelve our differences for now, surrender to the process of the experiment, focus on all the positives and see where it takes us.”

Dan’s first Commitment Ceremony post got even shadier towards Sandy, repeatedly highlighting that she hasn’t been in a relationship before and patting himself on the back for working through her “insecurities”.
“Couch concerns… There are so many walls up that Sandy has brought into this experiment. I’ve dialled myself back to meet Sandy where she’s at and to see if she’s willing to step in,” he said.
Dan claimed his relationship with Sandy was “hard work” because there was “no flow or real chemistry”. Yikes!
Oh, don’t worry, it gets worse! At the start of Intimacy week on February 13, Dan complained that he had to “respect unfamiliar cultural boundaries” and “sleep fully clothed”.
“This isn’t me, this isn’t my style. I’m fun, confident, experienced and open-minded when it comes to sex and intimacy,” Dan said.
He continued: “I am reminding myself to be patient, continue to trust the expert’s match, and remain curious. Let’s keep working on the basics and see if we can build some chemistry with our intimacy week tasks.”
In another post, Dan claimed that Sandy needed to “let her walls down” and “lean into the experiment further”.
It left us questioning what we aren’t seeing from the TV couple or if Dan was trying to save his own hide.

As Intimacy Week came to a close, Dan complained that his relationship was “not a vibe”. Seriously, we must be missing something…
He claimed that he “really liked Sandy” because they were able to “have a laugh at times and some great conversation”.
However, he went on to complain once again that their relationship had been a “slow grind”, pointing out their “gaps” in “experience, confidence, expectations and cultural influences”.
Ol’ mate is really starting to get hung up on those “cultural” differences…

After serial gaslighter Harrison Boon attempted to shift the blame of his “phone number scandal” onto Dan, viewers saw Sandy have a fairly reasonable reaction in trying to work out WTAF was going on.
But, apparently, the Dinner Party was a “reality check” for Dan. He claimed it shone yet another “light on the massive gap in relationship experience” between #Dandy.
You could light up a goddamn stadium with how many “lights” are being “shone” on their relationship ATM…
“Putting all our differences aside when it comes to interests, passions, and lifestyle, the one big thing that’s kept me in this experiment and given me hope is the fact that I believed we were a team,” Dan said.
He continued: ” I am also becoming frustrated and exhausted with the compatibility challenges that keep mounting up. My patience is being tested, but I remain committed to the process.” U sure?!

Okay, we’re reaching the point where we’re feeling gaslighted AF. But we haven’t worked out yet whether it’s the MAFS editing team or Dan doing the trickery…
Sandy has always come across on TV as independent, but Dan claims that he’s had to constantly “take the lead and do most of the relationship work”.
“I’m so far dialled back and feeling more and more disconnected from myself as a result. Unfortunately, it is beginning to feel more like a chore than a relationship,” Dan wrote after the February 19 Commitment Ceremony.
However, he claimed he wasn’t ready to “quit just yet” and wanted to “see if Sandy can take the advice of the experts and lean into [the experiment]” in order to “turn this boat around”.
Ah, of course, another MAFS 2023 groom is placing ALL the blame on his TV wife…
The weirdest thing is, Dan always posts these shady AF posts with smiling photos. We’re so confused…
