Married at First Sight Australia 2023’s Jesse Burford was ruthlessly interrogated by Today Extra‘s David Campbell for his involvement in Claire Nomarhas cheating ON him with Adam Seed.
The breakfast talk show host questioned whether the marriage celebrant held some responsibility for his TV wife hooking up with another man (and then lied about it for two weeks).
On February 23, David claimed that Jesse’s “red flag” behaviour towards Claire in early episodes directly pushed her to kiss serial gaslighter Adam.
“Where do you think your responsibility lies?” David asked, pointing out Jesse’s past comments to Claire about his “icks“.
Jesse was quick to point out David’s victim blaming, replying: “‘My responsibility lies… sorry, what was that question? ‘Where does my responsibility lie when my wife kisses another dude‘?”.
The 30-year-old groom called out the Channel Nine presenter, revealing that he had seen David’s previous interviews with Claire and Adam’s TV wife Janelle Han.
‘David You make me laugh, mate! I’ve seen… you’ve called me a “walking red flag“. Scoffing and rolling your eyes when my name gets brought up,” Jesse said.
He claimed his “icks” were over-exaggerated by MAFS‘ notorious editing but admitted to telling Claire to be quiet (even though he still thought that “wasn’t rude”).
Kyle Sandilands defends Married at First Sight’s Jesse Burford after his rival David Campbell’s victim-blaming
Following the interview, Jesse found an unlikely ally in radio shock jock Kyle Sandilands.
The KIISFM host reportedly has a long-running feud with David, so it’s little surprise that he took the opportunity to speak out against him.
He argued that Jesse was a “nice bloke” and claimed David was “flop” who “never had anybody’s back” because he just tried to come across as “woke“.
“That’s what David is like. He reads a headline somewhere believes it to be 100 per cent true, does no research and forms a very stupid, immature opinion,” Kyle claimed.
‘Then [he] runs around trying to protect everyone with no real details. The guy’s a flop. I’ve never liked him… He makes me physically sick to look at.”
Kyle’s co-host Jackie O Henderson agreed, suggesting that David must have only seen the first few episodes of Married at First Sight where Jesse had a negative portrayal.
“‘This is what David Campbell does. This guy doesn’t actually have his own opinion; he always does what he thinks people would like, but he really has zero personality,” Kyle said.
