We’ve got the tea about the leaked WhatsApp group chat that caused a divide amongst the Married at First Sight Australia 2024 cast.

During the 2024 season of MAFS, many beautiful friendships were formed (Timothy Smith and Tristan Black, we’re looking at you). However, MANY alliances also came crashing down.

As revealed in episode 376 of the So Dramatic! podcast, a secret group chat among the participants was a MAJOR catalyst behind the breakdown of many once-solid friendships.

The secret group chat included Andrea Thompson, Lucinda Light, Timothy, Cassandra Allen, Tristan, Eden Harper, Jayden Eynaud, Jonathan McCullough, Ellie Dix, and Michael Felix.

These cast members used the group to share some savage content about their co-stars. And, according to insiders, Sara Mesa and Lauren Dunn were the main targets.

What went down in the SECRET Married at First Sight WhatsApp group?

One contestant told So Dramatic! that Jonathan initially created the group to get his co-stars to “turn against” his TV wife, Lauren, and “rally behind him instead“.

“Jonathan was in full damage control mode after his cheating scandal was aired out at the Reunion,” the source dished.

“He was also annoyed that Lauren was getting so much positive press and everyone was loving her. He was definitely jealous.”

In the group chat, Jonathan said “really nasty and horrible things” about Lauren and Sara.

“Jono claimed that Lauren was trying to destroy him and Ellie, but that was completely untrue,” the source explained.

“Lauren has been nothing but supportive of their relationship since filming ended.”

According to the contestant, Jonathan was also trying to get his co-stars to “ruin Lauren’s reputation” and expose her alleged Bali boyfriend.

“Andrea was asking Jono to send photos of the Bali guy so she could leak them to the media,” they claimed. And we didn’t expect this from her!

Married at First Sight stars were ‘JEALOUS’ that Lauren and Sara got ‘the most AIRTIME’

Another contestant told So Dramatic! that the animosity towards Lauren and Sara from their co-stars was rooted in jealousy.

“They’re trying to bring Lauren and Sara down and spread rumours to make them look bad because they are jealous that they got the most airtime out of everyone,” the contestant spilled.

“Jono openly said in the group chat that he was upset with the edit he was getting on the show. He also said it was unfair that Lauren was getting such a great edit and so much positive media coverage.

“He said the most in the group and was the main instigator behind it.” And he’s making Jack Dunkley look like a saint!

What happened when MAFS’ Lauren and Sara found out about the SECRET group chat?

According to our sources, all hell broke loose when Lauren and Sara found out what was being said about them in the secret WhatsApp chat.

“They were extremely upset,” one contestant dished. “It felt like high school bullying.

“They thought they were on good terms with all of their co-stars, so they were shocked by the comments they saw about themselves… None of them had ever voiced concerns to them. It was all news to them.” Yikes.

Lauren, in particular, was extremely hurt because she believed she was on good terms with everyone and was in regular contact with them.

“Lauren messaged some of the group members, saying she was disappointed in them, as she thought they were friends.”

Once Lauren and Sara got wind of the group chat, some of the contestants alerted everyone to stop using the message thread as screenshots were getting leaked.

“Tristan and Eden tried to shut the group chat down,” the contestant recalled. “Eden had had enough of the drama and said it was a lesson to be nicer to people before leaving the chat altogether.”

And at least someone felt bad!
