It’s been alleged that Sara Mesa and Tim Calwell‘s explosive fight about cancelled dates on Married at First Sight Australia 2024 was “out of context”.

During the February 13 episode of the marriage experiment, Tim expressed frustration that Sara had ditched a THIRD date he’d planned in favour of hanging out with her girlfriends.

This tension hit boiling point during the February 14 instalment, with Sara storming out of the dinner party after her husband “screamed in her face”.

However — as usual — things may not be as they seem on TV!

Sources close to Sara told So Dramatic! that the bride knows that the “three dates being cancelled was a sh*t go”.

“She always knew it was going to be a bad look,” they said. “She knows that her actions shown exactly as they happened would have made her look bad to the public regardless.”

However, “[producers] are cutting it out of context… That’s why she is coming across so bad.”

According to the insider, the couple’s original conversation in their apartment was franken-edited within an inch of its life!

“They made Sara look ten times worse by using clips of her responding to something completely different and adding it to the cancelled dates chat,” they explained.

“Which is not how it happened.”

Sara Mesa’s comments about Tim Calwell being INSECURE were about a completely different scenario

On-screen, Tim criticised Sara for ditching their date in favour of going out with friends.

However, it’s been revealed that Tim and Sara did spend time together on that occasion.

One participant told So Dramatic! that Sara and Tim, Lauren Dunn and Jonathan McCullough, Eden Harper and Jayden Eynaud, and another friend external to the experiment “went out Saturday night for dinner”.

“The girls were out for lunch, then decided to invite the husbands out for dinner,” the participant said. “Then after dinner, the girls went out, and the boys went home.

“The next day, Tim told Sara he was upset that she didn’t invite him out after dinner and that he felt she wasn’t paying attention to him.”

The source said Sara was “genuinely confused” about why Tim felt this way. Mainly because “they were all in a very casual group setting, laughing and chatting”.

“Sara saying, ‘Don’t take things so personally’ [during their conversation] was about Tim being upset she didn’t invite him out with the girls’,” the source explained.

“When she said things like she doesn’t know how to make him feel more secure or that Tim was getting in his head, Sara was referring to him feeling like she wasn’t giving him attention at the dinner.”

They added: “None of the parts in that conversation shown on TV were actually about the dates being cancelled.

“They’ve made it look like she’s just a cold, heartless b*tch who cancelled a date and doesn’t hang out with her partner… It was the completely wrong context.”

Those darn producers, hey?!

One of Sara’s co-stars also filled us in on what really happened when the bride cancelled several of her dates with Tim.

“The date Tim planned on TV, he and Sara went on. It was lunch in Neutral Bay,” they confirmed. “However, she did cancel one date when they returned from their honeymoon because they weren’t supposed to spend time together off-camera, and Sara wanted to follow the rules.”

The participant explained that some couples were “separated for a week” until all of the newlyweds arrived at the experiment in Sydney.

During the first week of filming, Sara cancelled a date because she “wasn’t used to the schedule and having little free time”.

“She and Tim stayed on the couch and watched a movie together that night instead,” they revealed. “They just didn’t go out for dinner.”

So, by the time their differences blew up on camera at the dinner party, Sara was ready to leave the show.

“At that point in the experiment, she was out,” one participant recalled. “She didn’t think she could keep doing it.” Yikes.
