The Real Housewives of Sydney is returning to Australian screens with a brand new season and cast after a whopping five-year hiatus.

The series first premiered in 2017 but was ditched after only one season because the producers deemed the catfights “too extreme”.

But good news because it’s confirmed RHOS is returning for season two and, get this, with an entirely new cast of glamourous women who will inevitably end up screaming at each other. And we’re so here for it!

What do we know about the Real Housewives of Sydney reboot?

Production on the 10-part series will get underway in Sydney “over the coming months”.

The show has been commissioned by Binge so you’ll be able to catch it on the streamer, and Foxtel. And Matchbox Pictures, which is part of Universal International Studios is once again on board to produce.

“We are thrilled to be bringing ‘The Real Housewives of Sydney’ series to Binge viewers,” says Binge‘s executive director Alison Hurbert-Burns said in a statement.

“The Real Housewives franchise is wildly popular across the globe, and we felt a cosmopolitan city like Sydney needed again to have a brand-new local version.

“We have a great team of creative forces driving the fresh series and …we can’t wait to introduce Australians to the new group of Sydney housewives in this reimagined series.”

Who has been cast in the new season of Real Housewives of Sydney?

There’s no official word on which Sydneysiders have made the cut.

However, RHOS will feature “a new generation of Sydney’s glamorous and wealthy women” who will “welcome viewers into their homes and lives, to witness the friendships, fashion, social events and drama“.

“We have assembled a sensational cast of amazing women who are going to perfectly showcase Sydney’s beauty, glamour and intrigue for audiences in Australia and around the world,” Matchbox Pictures MD Alastair McKinnon said.

So Dramatic! heard rumours late last year that PR maven Roxy Jacenko was joining the cast of RHOS.

Apparently the former SAS Australia alum “has been on the producers’ minds since they were casting RHOS season one” all those years ago. But she did put the whispers to bed.

The Daily Telegraph is also reporting Sally Obermeder is tipped to star in the reboot.

The former The Daily Edition host turned nutrition entrepreneur is a regular on the social scene. She’s often hanging out with the likes of Jaddad co-founder Michelle Greene, designer Lana Wilkinson and ironwoman Candice Warner.

The first incarnation starred Lisa Oldfield, Melissa Tkautz, Victoria Rees, Krissy Marsh and Nicole O’Neil.

The Real Housewives franchise first launched in 2006 with The Real Housewives of Orange County. It grew to more than 20 international adaptations including five seasons of The Real Housewives of Melbourne from 2014 to 2021.
