The Real Housewives of Sydney star Lisa Oldfield has slammed The Project’s Lisa Wilkinson after her controversial speech at the 2022 Logie Awards caused significant delays in Brittany Higgins‘ rape trial.

On her private Instagram account, Oldfield explained Wilkinson used to be “a bit of a hero” to her growing up, but the Logie Award speech controversy has made her realise the journalist is “narcissistic” and a “fraud”.

“I grew up with Dolly and did my work experience at Cleo. [Wilkinson] seemed gutsy, passionate and a beacon for equality,” Oldfield wrote.

“Lisa [Wilkinson] you are a #fraud and have no authenticity. Channel 10 you have a big #lemon on your hands and I can’t watch The Project TV or anything on your network whilst you support this #narcissistic #archegoist.”

Oldfield accused Wilkinson of using Brittney Higgins to “further her own ego and any regard to this woman’s legal or financial consequences”.

How Did Lisa Wilkinson’s Speech Impact The Ongoing Rape Trial

Lisa Wilkinson was awarded a Logie for her interview with Brittany in January 2021, but was warned by legal advisors to not talk about the case during her speech, as the case was still ongoing.

Wilkinson dedicated the award to Brittany and made statements regarding the reactions to the trial in her speech, despite these legal warnings.

ACT Chief Justice Lucy McCallum has since postponed the trial dates of Bruce Lehrmann. The former political staffer is accused of raping Brittany in March 2019.

Justice McCallum said Wilkinson’s speech “obliterated” the jury’s ability to be unbiased about the rape allegation.

What Have Other Media Personalities Said About Lisa Wilkinson’s Speech

Wilkinson’s former colleague, weatherman Tim Bailey reportedly said in since-deleted tweets that Wilkinson should have accepted her “little trophy” and “f*cked off”.

“Pull ya head in. I know this might be difficult, because it is a very big head. But please try,” he wrote.

The Australian opinion columnist Janet Albrechtsen called Wilkinson a “woke princess”. She then questioned whether she should be legally charged for “interfering with the administration of justice”.

A Ten spokesperson says the TV network “fully supports Lisa Wilkinson”.
