Real Housewives of Sydney star Lisa Oldfield has slammed 2021 Australian of the Year Grace Tame following her meeting with the Prime Minister on Tuesday.

Grace triggered a mountain of controversy after a now-viral image showed her stone-faced while meeting with PM Scott Morrison in Canberra. The two gathered for a morning tea in celebration of this year’s Australian of the Year (AOTY) finalists.

Lisa, along with many others, took issue with the 27-year-old’s behaviour. Taking to Instagram, she accused Grace of being a “self-centered brat”.

The 47-year-old housewife first congratulated tennis star Dylan Alcott, who was announced on Tuesday as this year’s Australian of the Year recipient.

“Thank God we finally have an #amazing and #inspirational #australianoftheyear!” she penned alongside a photo of Dylan and his girlfriend, Chantelle Otten.

Adding that the Paralympian makes her “proud to be Australian”, Lisa quickly pivoted to shame Grace’s actions.

Lisa Oldfield criticised Grace Tame on Instagram.

“Conversely [Grace Tame]… you had a wonderful opportunity to highlight issues for #women and the [abused],” she said. “But you made it all about yourself and carried on like a prat and a self-centred brat!”

What Is Grace Tame Known For?

In recent years, Grace has risen to prominence for her advocacy for sexual assault survivors.

At just 15-years-old, Grace was groomed and sexually abused repeatedly by her 58-year-old maths teacher.

In 2019, she won a supreme court exemption which allowed her to talk about her experience. As a result, this overturned a Tasmanian law that prevented victims from speaking about their experiences of sexual assault

Lisa later responded to a comment rebutting her opinion, where she suggested that Grace “was either too young or too self-absorbed” for the AOTY role.

“She should never have been chosen.”

What Have Other People Said About Grace Tame’s Frosty Behaviour?

While many people shared Lisa’s sentiment, Grace received support en masse from others who were quick to jump to her defense.

“Who are you to judge?” one Instagram user asked the housewife, who appeared in RHOS’s one-season run. “People show their pain and emotions their own way… Australian of the Year isn’t a popularity award.”

Another wrote: “No woman owes [ScoMo] anything just because he’s the Prime Minister”.

Meanwhile, another slammed Lisa, telling her she should “be ashamed of herself” for projecting her opinion on Grace.

“Grace has achieved more for women in that two minute photo, than Lisa could hope to achieve in her lifetime.”

Lisa was previously married to David Oldfield, who co-founded the One Nation party alongside Pauline Hanson. ‘Nuff said.
