Move over Schoolies: there’s a new genre of chaos set to hit Surfers Paradise with The Real Housewives of the Gold Coast rumoured to premiere soon.

Fans of the ever-expanding Real Housewives franchise lost their collective sh*t on Tuesday when iconic Instagram account Celeb Spellcheck revealed news of the impending series may have accidentally been leaked.

Alongside The Real Housewives of the Gold Coast, the streaming service is also readying itself for a Sydney instalment of the famed Million Dollar Listing franchise.

What Are Fans Saying About The Real Housewives of the Gold Coast?

A number of homegrown Australian reality stars weighed in on the potential new series.

Bachelor in Paradise fan fave Alisha Aitken-Radburn gushed “stop it”, while Married at First Sight alum Clare Verrall said she was “so here for this”. Us, too!

OG influencer Kurt Coleman also hyped up the series, citing that it would “be hilarious”.

However, some fans were sceptical about the authenticity of the post — and the incoming Real Housewives spin-off.

Is this promo even real?” one fan penned. “It looks like it was made on Microsoft Word in 2007.”

Meanwhile, popular Instagrammer Winniebluuess isn’t sure a Gold Coast iteration can live up to the short-lived Sydney spin-off.

Real Housewives of Sydney will forever be the most f*cking ROGUE season and you can not change my mind,” she said.

The one-season wonder was canned after its 2017 run, with executives believing the series was “too extreme” to warrant a second series.

The Real Housewives Franchise is a Huge Success Worldwide

The Real Housewives of Melbourne, however, has amassed great success, with the fifth season wrapping up in December 2021.

The franchise has also found homes in Beverly Hills (the OG), New Jersey, Salt Lake City, Orange Country and Dallas.

It’s also seen international iterations in Dubai, Canada, Greece, New Zealand, the UK and South Africa.

Could our Sunshine State be the next home for reality TV chaos? We sure hope so!
