In the wildest reality TV cross over of 2022, Real Housewives of Melbourne star Gina Liano is the ex-stepmother of Married at First Sight Australia 2022‘s Dion Giannarelli.
Gina formerly dated Dion’s father, Dean Giannarelli, for 12 years, and has now spoken out about her complex relationship with the beloved MAFS groom.
Chatting to HIT FM’s Gliffo and Gabi, the Real Housewife confessed she hadn’t “seen Dion for a long time” before watching Married at First Sight.
Well, there ya have it – THE Gina Liano watches MAFS!
“He was typically challenged by the relationship I had with his father, and I wasn’t his mother,” she confessed. “And a lot of young boys are like that when the father moves on.”
The 56-year-old lamented that she and Dean dated “a long time ago,” but they “travelled together” and she is “very fond of Dion”.
“I don’t know if he’s particularly fond of me,” she concluded.
Despite suggesting Dion wasn’t particularly keen on her, Gina still had nothing but glowing words for her former step-son.
“I will say, when I moved when I was doing Housewives, they had moved to the States. So, that’s when my relationship with his father was long distance for three years,” Gina recalled. “We were together for 12 years. It was a long time.”
Dion Giannarelli Shut Down Questions About Gina Liano
While Gina was reserved but willing to talk about her ex-stepson, the same couldn’t be said for Dion.
When the 34-year-old was interviewed on the same show, he was quick to shut down any conversation about his connection to the Real Housewives star.
All Dion had to say was: “They used to date. To be honest with you I had nothing to do with Real Housewives of Melbourne or Gina’s involvement at all”.
Gina Is Not Dion’s Only Reality TV Connection
Prior to MAFS, Dion had a host of connections to the reality TV world.
The 34-year-old is pals with none other than Karl Stefanovic. He and Karl appear to be good friends, with Dion’s Instagram profile sporting several pics of the pair hanging out, along with Karl’s wife, Jasmine.
In one happy snap, the pair can be seen together at Millionaires Walk in Sorrento, which is very fitting, TBH.
The reality TV web deepens as Dion is also chummy with The Bachelorette’s Aggi Guardiani and Laurina Fleur, as well as disgraced AFL player John Patton and 90’s icon Marcia Hines.
Dion’s (unfairly sh*t) stint on MAFS has further bolstered his profile.
And, given that the darling groom is being eyed up for roles on several other shows, we have feeling we have not seen the last of him yet!
We don’t think wre’ll be seeing him on RHOM any time soon, though.
