Married at First Sight Australia 2022 star Dion Giannarelli‘s TV marriage may not have worked out, but he might have a bright future on the dating scene thanks to his foolproof first date plan.
Sunday night’s Commitment Ceremony saw the 34-year-old groom say goodbye to the experiment after yet another tumultuous week with his on-screen spouse Carolina Santos.
While there’s no doubt that our Gucci-sporting MAFS king now has a line of ladies waiting for him, Dion has a set plan when it comes to first dates.
Chatting to producers in his Married at First Sight audition tape, the property developer confessed always “[does] this sort of rule” where he tells his dates he has a “family event” in 45 minutes-time… even if it’s not true!
“Now, if I get along with the girl really well, I have someone ring me 45 minutes into the thing and I say, ‘I just have to take this call’,” Dion revealed. “I’ll walk back and say, ‘Listen, I’ve cancelled the family event, I’m having so much fun. Let’s stay and have dinner’.”
But what does the suave TV beau do if he isn’t “feeling” the date after the 45-minute timeframe?
“If I do have to go because it’s just not what I’m feeling, I’ve got a family thing and she doesn’t feel bad,” Dion dished. Now, we can’t decide if this is utter madness or pure genius, but hey — at least he’s taking his dates’ feelings into account, right?
Dion’s Chequered Dating History
As a successful businessman with a love for the finer things in life, it’s no surprise (as Carolina so brutally pointed out) that Dion’s wealth attracts the wrong women.
Discussing his success, Dion told producers in his audition tape that it has “been a little bit of a problem for [him] in the past”.
“It has attracted that and I haven’t got the right person for the right reasons,” he said.
So, who is the right person for Dion? According to the MAFS star, he craves “friendship, partnership… love and care”.
“I’m looking for someone that’s going to share that love for family, has a view to want to have children and start a family,” he said. “I really want to start a family and I want to have someone that’s willing to take that journey.”
