An anonymous contestant from The Block 2022 has confirmed what fans of the long-running renovation show have recently feared – the competition is totally “rigged”.

As reported in episode 225 of the So Dramatic! podcast, the Blockhead accused the producers of “manipulating” judges Neale Whitaker, Shaynna Blaze and Darren Palmer‘s final scores.

The allegations come after a slew of complaints from contestants and fans alike, who believe the judges show blatant favouritism towards Sarah-Jane Wilson and Tom Calleja this year.

“Some weeks we had no idea how certain rooms had won and the judge’s comments didn’t reflect the scores that were given,” the contestant told So Dramatic! host Megan Pustetto.

They added: “The feedback is so inconsistent… The producers manipulate the judge’s scores to make them seem like it’s closer between the couples to, of course, add drama.”

“It’s not a true reflection of the rooms or the scores,” they said later, adding: “It’s rigged, which is totally unfair as it’s supposed to be a competition.”

The Block 2022 Fans on Social Media Reckon the Tree Change Season is “Unfair” and “Rigged”

The understandably jaded contestants aren’t the only ones seeing a concerning pattern in the final scores.

Fans have taken to Twitter and Facebook to air their grievances about The Block 2022 being “rigged”.

One long-time viewer pointed out that previous seasons of The Block ensured that the order of deliveries and construction was “mixed up”, so it would be fair to all contestants.

However, this year, House Five’s Omar Slaimankhel and Ozman “Oz” Malik always drew the short straw.

During the October 23 episode, this pecking order led to them not having their WFH space finished (and an apology from Scotty Cam).

“[In previous year], House Five isn’t always last. It would sometimes be first,” the fan wrote on Facebook.

They continued: “That hasn’t happened this year, so that is why it hasn’t been fair. A reasonable and factual statement really. They have been completely disadvantaged in some circumstances.”

Fans are Divided on Whether Sharon Johal and Ankur Dogra‘s Time on The Block 2022 was “Unfair”

Another fan pointed out that newbie renovators Sharon Johal and Ankur Dogra should have also been given more guidance.

“In previous years, if houses struggled with design, the judges gave advice and pointers. They should have given house three a bit of guidance,” they wrote in the Facebook thread.

Other viewers believed the contestants were too quick to think they were “wronged” without taking accountability for their mistakes.

Many fans are keeping a close eye on the final auctions, with some speculating that House One winning would be a sure sign of The Block 2022 being rigged.
