Married at First Sight Australia 2023‘s Jesse Burford has revealed all about his and Claire Nomarhas‘ honeymoon, including the unseen fight that never made the cut.

The couple had a tumultuous relationship, navigating a lack of romance, a cheating scandal and a suspicious redemption arc that went up in a ball of flames.

Now, Jesse has blown the lid of his time on the show, dishing to So Dramatic!‘s Megan Pustetto what really went down during their Whitsundays honeymoon.

According to the 30-year-old, he tried to breach the topic of their lack of romance honestly, which was met with Claire being “combative”.

This occurred once Jesse realised that there were “little romantic feelings being generated”.

“We’re just going through the motions and yeah, it was actually my producer who was like, ‘What’s going on here? What are you going to do about it?’

“So I found Claire on the island, went and sat next to her. They set the cameras up and everything.”

Given they caught it all on film, Jesse “cannot believe this didn’t make it [to air]”.

“Because I sit down and in the most polite, diplomatic way, I said the words to the effect of, ‘The romance isn’t here just yet. What can we do to spark that?'”

However, Claire was having none of it.

How did Married at First Sight‘s Claire Nomarhas react to Jesse Burford trying to expand on their romance?

The marriage celebrant said he “was not expecting Claire to turn around and “absolutely lose it” over his question.

“I don’t know what was so triggering for her,” he said. “But she just got so angry.”

Jesse recalled his bride “raising her voice quite loudly” and expressing that she “can’t believe [Jesse] would say that”.

“This is what I’m referring to in my [Today Extra] interview with David Campbell, where I said that there’s a fight that Claire and I had where I walked away, because I was hurt by things that she said.

“Because here I am, just calling a spade a spade… and it’s met with defensiveness and agitation and combativeness.”

Jesse reportedly questioned why the early childhood educator was “so triggered” and “so defensive”, assuring her he wasn’t “coming at [her]”.

“And you know what’s so ironic?” he added. “She turned to me and said, ‘You’re gaslighting me’.

“And that’s when I stood up and walked away.”

Claire Nomarhas’ honeymoon comments that would get her ‘CANCELLED’ if they’d aired it

ICYMI: Rumours have been swirling that the bride is friends with MAFS producers and, as such, had a much “softer” edit than what occurred IRL.

According to Jesse, there were a few times Claire made comments which would have seen her “cancelled” had they made it to air.

“I don’t want to come across as bitter and spiteful, but there were absolutely a couple of things that Claire said that would get people cancelled,” he admitted. “She said it on camera as well.

“So it was an insinuation of the age of women that I prefer, which just absolutely horrified me that you’d say that on camera. Then she insulted me whilst also insulting a minority.”

Claire reportedly told Jesse that she wanted to be “matched with someone older”, which he then confided he asked to be paired with a younger woman.

“And she took that and ran with it, and tried to insinuate some things,” he said. “I was like, ‘How are you literally saying this on camera right now?’

“I turned around, and looked at the producer like, ‘What the hell is going on?'”

These instances had Jesse questioning how producers can “make [him] out to be a bad person when someone’s making comments like this“.

Inside Married at First Sight‘s Jesse Burford and Claire Nomarhas’ near-death experience

Their spicy fight wasn’t the only sore point of Jesse and Claire’s honeymoon.

As previously reported by So Dramatic!, one podcast listener’s dad rescued Jesse and Claire after they were swept out to sea on their honeymoon.

Jesse has since revealed what TF actually went down, dishing that the “tide was insanely strong” when they were paddleboarding.

“Before we knew it, we’d been swept all the way out,” he recalled. “We’re surprised it didn’t make the cut because that was like, pretty insane.

“They literally had to get the lifeguard and he came out and towed us back in.”

The TV groom admitted that he was “freaking out”, particularly after Claire claimed to have seen a shark in the water.

However, he wasn’t the only one losing it over the incident.

“I remember our producer freaking out,” Jesse added, noting “it didn’t make it” to the small screen because it jeopardised their “health and safety”.

But damn, it would’ve made for great TV!
