Jesse Burford has hit back at sensational claims made by TV wife Claire Nomarhas that he ghosted her after Married at First Sight Australia 2023.
As revealed in episode 270 of the So Dramatic! podcast, the 30-year-old marriage celebrant rebutted claims he “ghosted” Claire, claiming he has replied to every single text message she’s sent him.
“This ghosting thing is an absolute lie,” he said. “Yes, she always messaged me first but I always responded with sometimes long and detailed texts.
“There have been five to seven exchanges since October, some of these include only two to three texts, others four to six. No calls.”
Jesse then provided proof in the form of screenshots of multiple text exchanges between the couple which So Dramatic! has sighted and which back up his claims.
Claire wrote to Jesse on January 31 – the night their TV wedding aired – saying: “Thinking of you. Always here for you. Enjoy the ride. X.”
Jesse replied a few hours later, thanking Claire for her message, saying “what a f*cking epic first episode.”
“I saw stories of your viewing party on Insta! Looked sick at that gaming bar,” he said.
“Wish you could’ve seen my viewing party though, it f*cking went off!!! 60 people, top floor balcony bar, huge ass tv and massive sound! Had MAFS cast from seasons 5, 7 and 8 rock up too #perthsquad.”
Jesse then discussed the “ick thing” and explained to Claire it was “hardly at the forefront” of his mind on their wedding day. He also called the sound bite editing “such bullsh*t.”
He then went on to reminisce with his former bride about all the lovely moments they had shared on the day that never made it to air.
“They didn’t show our first dance, the speeches, the plate smashing, the group dances, the Conga line, the circle Greek dance, the chat I had with your Dad. Oh well, life is pain.
“The kiss we had on the couch was fucking hot though hey. The entire floor went ‘ООООООООНННННННН’ hahaha.”
He then finished off by wishing her a “sick night” before wishing her “good luck with it all” and adding, “Tell Jacqui and Paulo I said hey!”
After Jesse’s long-winded message, he did not receive a reply from Claire.
“Right there is absolute proof she’s either a shit talker or her phone’s f*cked,” Jesse said. “I gave her a solid reply.”
Claire claimed that Jesse GHOSTED her after Married at First Sight
During an appearance on Today Extra on March 15, the kindergarten assistant implied that the marriage celebrant had been ignoring her texts since they left the experiment.
“I’ve always been the first to reach out to Jesse. You know, ‘How are you going? How was watching that [on TV]? How you feeling?'” she said.
However, the 31-year-old revealed that she’d never heard back from her ex.
“Jesse seems to be doing great. He’s enjoying his newfound fame back in Perth,” she said, confessing that he hasn’t asked her how she’s been.
As the pair haven’t spoken, Claire isn’t sure how the 30-year-old “feels about [her].” But TBH, we think it’s quite clear.
Claire and Jesse left the marriage experiment on March 12, as Jesse couldn’t forgive Claire for cheating on him with their co-star Adam Seed. And fair enough! We’re surprised they even lasted as long as they did.
