The Block Australia 2022’s Scott Cam sparked concerns about his health after sounding ill just one day ahead of filming the final auctions.

The 59-year-old host had Australia’s biggest radio and TV presenters worried as he appeared on the Today show and Nova 100’s Chrissie, Sam and Browny with a very croaky voice.

On November 4, radio host Sam Pang jokingly interrogated Scotty about how many cigarettes he’d recently smoked, suggesting his hoarseness was the result of the ill-advised habit.

Scotty confirmed that he actually quit smoking a few years ago, so that wasn’t the culprit of his dodgy vocals.

But NGL, we were more concerned whether the TV tradie had picked up the latest strain of COVID, which could force him to miss the final auctions on November 6. Pull out a negative PCR test ASAP, Scotty!

Luckily, Scotty quickly cleared up that he was in relatively good health and had actually lost his voice after recording a whopping 55 episodes‘ worth of voiceovers.

‘I’ve got a bit of a problem with my voice, because of voiceovers that you do with the show,” he said.

“I’ve got to narrate the whole thing, and I’m coming to the end of it.”

He then admitted that his sensitive throat flared up again after chatting with 150 Gisborne residents ahead of the televised auctions.

“I had 150 neighbours there last night at The Block. We had a function and I spoke for about an hour to all of those people,” Scotty said.

He added: “I’m a bit of a shouter. Because there was no microphone, I was just yelling to people and I’ve lost my voice a little bit.”

The Block 2022 properties will go to auction on Saturday, November 5, before they’re televised on Sunday, November 6.
