The Block Australia 2022 fans are roasting Scotty Cam for a shocking (and painfully permanent) “bogan” feature in the famed chippie’s newly revealed house.

For the first time in the show’s 13 seasons, the host has constructed a house of his own alongside the contestants in Gisborne.

While the other Blockheads have been busy completing their final builds, the long-time host did some renovating of his own.

However, some fans reckon he just hired tradies (including past contestants) to do a fair amount of the hard work (much like the five competing teams) and slapped his name on the front regardless.

But truly, only Scotty Cam could have designed and approved the design for one of the home’s most “bogan” features – a Southern Cross stars symbol skylight in his shed.

While contestants Omar Slaimankhel and Ozman “Oz” Malik struggled to get a roof on their shed, Scotty decided to use valuable time and resources to include the permanent feature (read: eyesore).

It’s not the first time Scotty has added the Southern Cross as a permanent addition to his life – having previously gotten the design as a back tattoo.

Scotty told the Daily Telegraph in 2009 that the symbol “instils a sense of morality” in him. Go off, we guess?!

“It’s that symbol of working hard, helping your mate and slogging it out without complaining. Unlike American patriotism, the Aussie pride about the Southern Cross is about keeping it to yourself.’’

Nothing says “keeping it to yourself” like a giant skylight feature…

What did The Block 2022 Contestants Think of Scotty Cam’s House?

During the October 24 episode, many of the contestants gushed as they made their way through Scotty’s finished house (under the watchful eye of The Block producers) during the reveal tour.

But jaded Blockheads Sharon Johal and Ankur Dogra made a cheeky stab at the larrikin’s most controversial design choice on Instagram.

“When Scotty told us he had a Southern Cross tattoo to match his skylights, we said , ‘of course ya do’. Because, ya know, ‘Straya”, the controversial couple wrote.

Luckily, the rest of his property didn’t suffer the same “bogan” fate. It is, however, eerily similar to many of Sarah-Jane Wilson and Tom Calleja‘s country-inspired design choices. Chicken or the egg, much?

You can decide whether the “bogan” charm carries through the rest of the property, with Scotty’s final house revealing images below…
