Scotty Cam has certainly been a divisive figure on The Block Australia 2022, but these throwback pics of him as a young tradie proves that he was once just one of the boys.
The long-time host shared a slew of old pics on the ‘gram, which appeared to be from before he first made his TV debut on Backyard Blitz.
A darker-haired Scotty can be seen hard at work in the various snaps, back when his true blue Aussie tradie persona wasn’t seemingly just for the cameras.

The photos were shared in October 2021 as Scotty promoted National Safe Work Month. Kinda ironic, with all the “dodgy” shenanigans the Blockheads have gone through this season….
“This National Safe Work Month, I’m thinking about how much has changed in construction,” the 6o-year-old wrote at the time.
He continued: “Back in the day, blokes were getting scraped and stitched up all the time. It wasn’t that people didn’t care, but there was a job to be done, and you just got on with it.” Ooft, we can smell the toxic masculinity from here!
“Thankfully people are much more safety-conscious than when I started plying my trade,” he said, promoting an Australian company called Safety Culture HQ.
While most fans gushed about how Scotty had “aged like fine wine“, one viewer of The Block 2021 shared a comment that sounded eerily familiar to what we’ve been hearing this season.
“I think the last week [in 2021] on The Block was too much… It felt stressful & probably increased safety risk,” the fan wrote.
“It’s been great all season until this.”
