A brand new trailer for The Block 2022 has revealed the intense moment host Scott Cam learned that Elle Ferguson and her fiancé Joel Patfull had quit the series just days into the competition.

The influencer and footballer had Blockheads up in arms after the pair reportedly left to be by Joel’s mother’s beside following a serious fall.

However, as reported by So Dramatic! and later confirmed by the show’s creator, Julian Cress, the duo weren’t down with the conditions, nor the ‘fits they were expected to wear.

Don’t you hate it when you have to wear hi-vis gear on a work site?

Now, a recent promo has shown Scott’s reaction to the stylish pair quitting the beloved reno show.

“I am in total shock,” the long-time host said. “They didn’t say goodbye. They didn’t say thanks for having us.”

“Why would you leave after two days?” Scotty asked the crew in The Block trailer.

The baffling outcome is being dubbed “the television shock of the year”, and if last year’s amped up cheating scandal is anything to go by, we aren’t going to hear the end of this anytime soon!

Did Anyone Replace Elle Ferguson and Joel Patfull on The Block 2022?

While Nine admitted that they’d found a new team to replace Elle and Joel, fans have been kept in the dark as to who the new contestants are. Well, until now, that is!

So Dramatic! can exclusively reveal who has replaced Elle and Joel The Block 2022, after their impromptu departure.

As reported in episode 206 of the So Dramatic! podcast, Sydney parents Rachel and Ryan Carr are rumoured to have joined The Block 2022 as the fifth team.

They also have been featured in official promos for the series — which is set to premiere on August 7.

A friend of the couple told So Dramatic! host Megan Pustetto that the parents of three had previously told their loved ones via Instagram that they’d “missed out on a spot to an influencer couple”.

In a post shared by Rachel, she provided her followers with a “Block Update”.

“Many of you know we applied and were pretty successful in our audition process for The Block. [sic],” she penned. “We made it down to the very final selection and for a hot minute, we thought we were actually on.

“Unfortunately we were pipped to the post by an influencer couple. [sic].”

Rachel and Ryan Carr Were Called Up to The Block As Soon As Elle Ferguson and Joel Patfull Quit

According to the insider source, Rachel and Ryan were called up to appear on The Block on April 18 — the same day that The Daily Telegraph broke the news of Elle and Joel’s departure.

We have no doubt that Rachel and Ryan will serve up some stunning rooms, especially seeing as the couple are the directors of their own home design and renovation company, The RR Design Co.

Additionally, a production source said that despite the quick onslaught of drama once on-set, the newcomers “handled it like pros”.

“The new couple flew in on the Monday [after Elle and Joel quit]. The poor things,” they mused. “They had a lot to deal with straight away but handled it like pros and with a can-do attitude which is what The Block is all about.”

The source also dished that Rachel and Ryan were quite popular among the cast and crew.

“They have been great to work with… most of the contestants this year have been really great.”
