Social media star Elle Ferguson and her fiancé Joel Patfull walked away from The Block Australia 2022 just three days into filming.
The couple was forced to abruptly leave the show after a difficult family situation arose.
As per The Daily Telegraph, Joel’s mother Trish fractured her neck (and also potentially injured her coccyx and wrist). Accordingly, the pair quickly returned to Adelaide to be with her.
According to the publication, the couple initially wanted to stay on the show. But, they ultimately opted to leave after producers failed to provide Joel with a “definitive answer” as to whether he could “come and go” between Melbourne, where The Block is being filmed, and Adelaide, where his mother lives.
Elle has not yet formally addressed her exit from The Block or whether she and Joel’s short stint on the show will still air. However, she did upload a cryptic Instagram post on the Monday after the news broke.
“Wherever you are in the world. Whatever you are doing. family always comes first,” the 36-year-old wrote alongside a photo of two suitcases.

Last Tuesday the blogger and former footballer were papped entering a construction site in Gisborne – in Victoria’s Macedon Ranges – which is where the series is being filmed this year.
Elle Ferguson’s Tragic Family History May Have Influenced Her Decision
This is not the first time Elle has been struck by a family tragedy.
In 2015 her mother Kim passed away on her 57th birthday following a battle with cancer.
Joel is incredibly close with his own mother, so it is no surprise he and his fiancé would drop everything to rush to her bedside.
