Beauty and the Geek 2022 may have won Australian hearts; however, it doesn’t mean there haven’t been some majorly embarrassing editing fails.
Whether they’re trying to simulate heartfelt moments or amp up the romance, these editing fails left viewers with a bad taste in their mouth (even worse than Aaron Seeto’s nasal spray).
An Edit Faux Pas Revealed the Beauty and the Geek Finalists BEFORE They Were Officially Announced
In the lead-up to the highly anticipated Beauty and the Geek finale, fans were dying to know which teams would make the final cut.
However, they never banked on the outcome being spoiled before the finalists were officially announced during the August 2 episode!
Following the August 1 episode, Nine aired a promo for the remaining two instalments and eagle-eyed viewers clocked the three teams in the running for the crown in a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it shot.
In the teaser, host Sophie Monk was seen saying: “The winners of Beauty and the Geek are…”
Fans Notice a Huge Editing Fail Between Beauty and the Geek‘s Trailer and the Final Cut
However, during the actual episode, Michael awkwardly stood there, while the crowd repeatedly chanted for the couple to “kiss”.
Unfortunately, footage never lies and we’ve been blessed with screenshots that clearly show Michael and Tara locking lips during the challenge, making it a liiiitle obvious that different outcomes had been filmed.
Beauty and the Geek’s Christopher Mattiske Suffers a Major Franken-Editing Fail During His Transformation
Geek Christopher Mattiske hadn’t received a lot of time on-screen until his jaw-dropping transformation during the July 25 episode.
As the build-up to Christopher’s makeover-reveal reached its peak, the 30-year-old software engineer reflected on his emotional journey.
“The makeover has been a really big deal for me ‘cause I’ve never seen anything other than the same thing everyday,” Christopher said in a voiceover.
We reckon the audio editing started there, with Nine’s team likely cutting his natural pauses out of the clip.
“I’ve always been really…” Christopher starts, but his tone of voice completely changes as the audio continues with “…insecure about my looks”.
The second audio continues with Christopher saying: “I don’t really think of myself as someone who is…”
So uh, the dodgy editing kinda makes it seem like they switched around the audio.
Christopher could have been saying: “I don’t really think of myself as someone who is insecure about my looks.” Hmmmm.
The audio suddenly switches back to the original tone, as Christopher says: …”worth talking to.”
Seems like Christopher has a little more (well deserved) self-love than Beauty and the Geek wants to let on!
