The Block 2024‘s Ricky Recard has broken his silence after his ex-girlfriend claimed he dumped her for the show’s makeup artist.
On September 1, Ricky’s ex, Lauren Smith, told Daily Mail Australia she was “blindsided” when she learned the plumber had entered a relationship with Erin Lee, a makeup artist on the renovation show.
During an appearance on The Fox’s Fifi, Fev & Nick on September 3, fan-favourite Ricky confirmed he’s currently dating mother-of-two Erin without denying the cheating allegations.
“Your ex has come out and labelled you a love rat. What’s happened, man?” host Brendan Fevola asked.
“Geez, love rat is a bit harsh,” Ricky clapped back, stating he was “shocked” Lauren went to the media with the cheating allegations.
“I don’t have anything bad to say about [Lauren],” he added. “I was lucky enough to meet Erin just before filming started on The Block, on one of the launching days we had [in Phillip Island].”
Brendan then asked if Erin “fell in love with the kit”, referencing Ricky’s funky outfits on the show.
“It wasn’t the kit mate. I’m not sure what she fell in love with, to be honest with you,” the reality star joked.
“The Block is good for a couple of things. It’s not only building dream houses for potential families but also a love story. We’re very happy.”

Ricky’s ex Lauren told Daily Mail Australia she was minding the contestant’s dog and house while he was filming.
However, he broke up with her out of the blue.
“I was absolutely blindsided,” she told the outlet. “We were due to go at the beginning of July for my 30th birthday, but we broke up about two weeks after he got back from filming,” she said.
While Daily Mail claimed Erin left her husband to be with Ricky, her estranged husband Lucas Day denied this, stating they’d parted ways before she started her new relo.
