The Block 2024 is here, which means the judges are back to put the contestants through their paces, but the panel has had a major shakeup with a new addition.
This year, the long-running renovation show has set up shop on Victoria’s Phillip Island for its landmark 20th season.
Hosts Scott Cam and Shelley Craft have teased that this is the “greatest” instalment of The Block yet, but with rumours of styling and team drama already wafting from the set, it sounds like the judges have their work cut out for them!
However, the judging panel will change yet again this year after long-time judge Neale Whitaker announced he wouldn’t return.
On May 8, he revealed he’d no longer judge The Block after 17 seasons on the show to spend time with his partner David, who has been unwell for some time.
So, who are the official judges of The Block 2024?
Shaynna Blaze
Despite claims she would jump ship to Channel Seven’s Dream Home, designer and overall boss babe Shaynna Blaze is returning for The Block 2024.
The 61-year-old is the founder of Blank Canvas Interiors.
According to her website, she’s also helped design products for Harris Scarfe, Urban Road and One World Lighting, to name a few.
She’s also penned two interior design books and is a regular columnist for The Herald Sun, Stellar Magazine and Grand Designs Magazine, so you KNOW she knows what she’s talking about.
In early 2024, Shaynna shocked fans by revealing that she’d released a debut single called Warrior, harnessing her passion for music.
Darren Palmer
Fan fave judge Darren Palmer will also be back to test the Blockheads‘ design tactics this season.
The 46-year-old is one of Australia’s most renowned interior designers. In 2006, he founded DP Designed, which creates “bespoke, luxurious and precise interiors” for his clients.
He’s also a writer and speaker passionate about imparting his knowledge to design enthusiasts.
Marty Fox
Returning for his second stint as a judge on The Block is the CEO of WHITEFOX Real Estate, Marty Fox.
The father-of-three describes himself as a “serial property flipper” and a “respected figure of success”. So it’s safe to say he’s very influential in the property world.
Before officially joining the judging lineup in 2023 in Neale’s absence, Marty auctioned off Harry and Tash Pavlou‘s home during the 2020 season and Ryan and Rachel Carr‘s house in 2022.
