The Block‘s executive producer Julian Cress has confirmed the renovation series will be filmed in Phillip Island, Victoria, in 2024.

On September 25, Yahoo! Lifestyle reported that the upcoming season would be filmed in the popular tourist destination after plans to shoot in Daylesford, Victoria were canned.

Then, realestatesource.com.au said that a Channel Nine-owned company had purchased the Island Cove Villas complex in Cowes, Phillip Island, located two and a half hours out of Melbourne.

The deal to buy the 1.01-hectare resort was agreed on September 8, the same day The Block pulled out of their Daylesford location, reports the Herald Sun.

Now, Julian has confirmed everyone’s suspicions, telling TV Tonight that he’s “thrilled” about the new location.

“We obviously had our location previously lined up for Daylesford but that blew up. We were very, very lucky to be able to find a magnificent site in Phillip Island,” he said.

“So far from what I’ve seen the feedback from the audience and the fans who’ve heard that we’re going there, they’re all thrilled to bits.

“I’m kind of glad it’s out there, in a way. It’s such an iconic location. So many Australian families have so many happy memories of going there for holidays. I just feel like it’s going to resonate extremely well with the fans of The Block.”

He then joked they “should definitely” get one of the Hemsworth brothers involved, seeing as they hail from the island.

Inside The Block 2024’s new filming location

The resort, located at 113-119 Justice Road, comprises nine units, including one two-storey, five-bedroom property, six two-bedroom units and two three-bedroom houses.

The gorgeous property also boasts a palm-fringed pool, a tennis court, two BBQ pavilions, two pool gazebos, a large commercial laundry and a children’s playground.

In its listing, Island Cove Villas is described as “breathtaking from the moment you arrive”. It’s also a 2.4 kilometre drive from the infamous Phillip Island penguin parade

Bass Coast Shire Council Mayor Cr Michael Whelan said the council was excited to be the home for the new season.

“Council has received the planning application and looks forward to meeting the producers of the show,” he said.

“Bass Coast is one of the fastest growing areas in Australia. We’d be proud to show national and global TV audiences what makes Phillip Island and the wider region so special.’’
