The new filming location for The Block 2024 has been leaked after plans to shoot in Daylesford, Victoria were axed by Nine.

It seems the renovation show will be getting a total shake-up, as according to Yahoo! Lifestyle, the upcoming season is set to be filmed in Phillip Island, a beachy tourist destination just 90 minutes out of Melbourne. Woohoo!

The Herald Sun backed this intel, reporting that “rumours were swirling” that the show would see a “sea-change” instead of a “tree-change”.

However, an insider told Yahoo! Lifestyle that nothing has been “100% locked in yet”.

Why isn’t The Block 2024 being filmed in Daylesford?

According to the Herald Sun, the renovation show cancelled its plans to film the 20th season in rural Daylesford after facing several roadblocks.

Not only were there delays in permit approvals, but the locals weren’t too keen on a bustling filming crew disrupting their peaceful neighbourhoods.

“We’ve had so many successful series in so many different locations. But we don’t go where we’re not welcome,” a production insider told the publication. “Especially for the 20th series of The Block, which is so important.”

Despite the proposed setting being approved by the Hepburn Shire, the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT) reportedly challenged Nine’s plans.

As such, the network has reportedly cancelled $500,000 worth of accommodation it had booked for the cast and crew. Yikes.
