The Block 2023‘s “villains” Kristy and Brett Beams have admitted that “stirring the pot” was part of their game plan and yeah, we figured.

From manipulating Steph Ottavio to accusing Eliza and Liberty Paschke of receiving “special treatment“, the controversial couple have caused quite a stir on the show.

And during an interview with Today Extra on September 25, the pair admitted that it was their “intention” to wreak havoc.

“We did go in with the intention to ruffle feathers and stir the pot,” Brett dished, explaining that the duo played “mind games” on their co-stars to draw their focus away from their renovations.

“That was our intended gameplay,” he confessed. “Everyone [knew] that.”

He continued: “I felt a bit guilty because everyone was so nice that I was like: ‘Hey, heads up. I’ve been talking a lot of crap [about] you.’” And well, at least he was honest!

The couple then shared that the cast reacted well to their admission that they had a game plan, however, people were surprised at first.

“I just wanted to be fully transparent with them. Be prepared. We wanted to do that and I think we’re doing quite well,” Brett said, whilst Kristy added: “Someone had to be the villain, right?”

The pair also confirmed that they weren’t “meanies” IRL and that they were just having a bit of fun on-screen.

“[The Block] is fun to us,” Brett said, using his ‘Make The Block Great Again’ Donald Trump-inspired hat as an example of the fun he had on-screen. And can somebody tell him how un-fun these hats were?

“That was ironic. Brett hadn’t watched the TV show before and then [wore a] ‘Make The Block Great Again’ hat. Like he would know the difference,” Kristy laughed.

However, Brett confirmed that the couple “enjoyed” their time on the show, before thanking the building team for getting them high scores so they “could mess with everyone”.

And yeah, the couple seem so much nicer IRL! Right?
