The Block 2023‘s Kristy and Brett Beams have denied being “villains” despite continually “bullying” their co-star Steph Ottavio.
The controversial duo have copped a lot of heat from viewers and castmates for their poor behaviour on the renovation show.
During the September 12 episode, the Adelaide-based couple put an even bigger target on their backs when Kristy admitted that she liked “getting into [Steph’s] head”.
“I can easily suggest something as a throw-away comment and it’ll eat her away,” the 34-year-old told the cameras.
“This is a game and if anyone doesn’t think it wasn’t a game plan to be friendly at the beginning, they’re underestimating us.”
However, during an interview with TV WEEK on September 12, the project manager admitted that this was just “light-hearted” banter.
“Light-heartedly, I would mess with Steph. [I’d] stir the pot and chuck a little bomb here and there. It would rattle her a little bit,” she explained.

Kristy then confessed that she messed with Steph for a bit of fun as it was easy to “throw a spanner” in her co-star’s work.
And she did just that when she strategically suggested that Steph should add beams to her roof, despite thinking that this was bad advice.
“That’s all I did. Then when we were sitting in our lounge room, [Steph’s] plasterers came in and they were like: ‘Yeah thanks for that Kristy. You’ve made Steph review our whole thing and we’ve got to work overnight now’,” Kristy dished.
Brett, 34, also called Steph a “little wind-up toy” before stating: “We’re not villains, we’re pot stirrers”.
And we hate to break it to you, but you can totally be both.
