The Block 2023 has only just begun and fans are already shading Sydney couple Steph and Gian Ottavio for their “sad” and “depressing” kids room design.
During the show’s premiere on August 6, the team were tasked with designing a kid’s room themed around Buzz Lightyear from the infamous Toy Story movies.
However, the pair decided to ignore the brief, instead opting for a minimalistic design and fans weren’t too impressed.
What made matters worse was that the childhood sweethearts have kids of their own, making their bland room even more of a flop.

Fans also took to Twitter to call out the couple for literally ignoring the design brief they were given.
Viewers were especially riled up as Steph kept reminding viewers that she’s an architect. And TBH, she’s giving herself some bad publicity. We’d never trust her to nail a brief…
The judges DRAG Steph and Gian and fans are living for it
Longtime judge Shaynna Blaze shaded the couple for ignoring the brief and TBH, they deserved it!
“The fact you’re not listening to the brief… I mean, it’s not even a kid’s room,” she remarked.
“The brief was to create a kid’s room,” judge Neale Whitaker chimed in.
“If they were thinking they’d take a bit of a punt and show the judges they’re sophisticated and grown up and we’d walk in and be wowed. FAIL,” he retorted. Ouch, that’s gotta hurt!
Even host Scott Cam had some thoughts.
“We’ve seen contestants forget a brief and then do what they want. But this is next level,” he added. Yikes, if we were Steph and Gian, we’d be tapping into our inner child STAT!
The Block fans are already calling Steph and Gian ‘the worst’
After their sham of a kid’s room design, Steph and Gian have been copping a lot of heat from fans.
Unsurprisingly, the duo came last in the rankings, scoring a mediocre 14 out of 30. In high school, that’d be considered a fail, so it looks like these two need to keep it moving…
