The Block will reportedly be undergoing a renovation of its own with the 2024 season facing some major changes.

Leaked paperwork obtained by the Herald Sun reveals that the show will be going carbon-neutral next year.

According to the publication, a planning permit to build five luxury homes on farmland in Daylesford’s Raglan Street has been lodged with Victoria’s Hepburn Shire Council.

Whilst the permit wasn’t in Channel Nine’s name, Julian Brenchley, one of the regular architects for The Block, was listed as the joint applicant on the proposal. So this tea sounds pretty legit to us!

The report highlights plans for the proposed development of five architecturally designed, carbon-neutral, fossil fuel-free, five-bedroom homes. Whew, that was a mouthful.

These houses will boast an array of luxurious features, including terraced alfresco areas, mezzanines, rumpus rooms and heated swimming pools. And we’re planning on moving in as soon as the season ends!

The application is also for entirely new builds, which is a shake-up from The Block’s original renovation format.

The Block fans aren’t impressed with the show’s new location

Fans haven’t been too thrilled about the upcoming season’s rural location, with many airing their concerns under the comments section of The Blockinator Blog Instagram account, which unveiled the new location.

“I’m surprised they would do this country format again, it was a fail last time,” one fan confessed.

Another suggested The Block hire a new architect “because the style of extensions and new homes is getting really tired”.

“Daylesford is a town full of old historic cottages and that’s why people both live and stay there,” they added. “So I hope to see something of a similar nature because they really missed that mark last year.”
