The Block Australia 2023 is said to be the most dramatic season to date and nothing makes us happier than a good ol’ trainwreck!

According to Yahoo! Lifestyle, there’s set to be LOTS of inter-team conflicts, with one source describing the season as “Melrose Place on steroids”.

Whilst there’s always a healthy dose of chaos on the renovation show, insiders have said that the drama will really be ramped up this season, so expect to be shooketh!

“The new season is said to be a real change of pace from previous ones, with many of the teams reportedly coming to loggerheads this year,” Yahoo Lifestyle’s insider dished.

“The drama will be relatable but may surprise viewers, given it’s like nothing we’ve seen before.”

Adding: “Fans. are likely to switch allegiance between the teams throughout the season as the drama unfolds.”

However, despite all the tension, The Block 2023 still maintains its heart and we’ve also heard that the finished houses are to die for!

The Block 2023 contestants will also have to build granny flats

Not only that, but beloved host Scott Cam told Nine that this year’s teams have been tasked with building additional granny flats on their properties.

With a jaw-dropping $100,000 up for grabs, this makes the stakes even higher. So we’re expecting tears, breakdowns and all of the drama we so love and crave.

“Our five new teams from across the country are all fired up to make their home states proud.

“But wait until you see their shock when they find out they’re building not one, but two new abodes, as we throw in a granny flat for good measure,” the 60-year-old laughed.

According to Yahoo! Lifestyle, this added challenge causes tensions to mount. We’ve even heard that viewers may ditch their original favourites as the season progresses…

Co-host Shelley Craft also chimed in, stating that the fresh batch of contestants will be in for a healthy dose of twists and turns.

“This series’ houses may seem charming on the surface, but our contestants will be in for a shock as they uncover a host of pitfalls not evident upon first inspection,” the 47-year-old dished.

“While there are plenty of laughs to be had, viewers can expect an equal number of tears.” Oooh, it sound’s like we’re in for a treat!

Who’s competing on The Block Australia 2023?

This year, five fresh teams of Blockheads will be competing for the life-changing cash prize.

Eliza Paschke, 37, and her sister Liberty, 34, will represent the Purple Team, whilst WA-based parents Kyle Cottone, 36, and Leslie, 34, will make up the Green Team.

Meanwhile, QLD couple Leah Milton, 32, and her hubby Ash, 38, will be on the Red Team.

Joining them are two more married couples: Kristy Beams, 34, and Brett, 34, who’ll be on the Yellow Team, and Gian Ottavio, 27, and his wife Steph, 27, who’ll be on the Blue Team.

According to Woman’s Day, one of these contestants used to be Hamish Blake and Zoë Foster Blake‘s assistant. We wonder who it was!

Despite the reported tiffs, we’ve also heard that this cast got along really well, as they even got matching tattoos at the end of filming.

Rumours were even swirling that one of them got a massive ink of Scott Cam’s face, but we’ll believe it when we see it!
