It’s been revealed that two iconic elements of Married at First Sight Australia, including the infamous Partner Swap challenge, have been given the flick for the 2024 season.

The 11th instalment of the infamous marriage experiment has already been party to several changes, including a more age-diverse cast and the inclusion of a male same-sex couple.

Now, as revealed in episode 363 of the So Dramatic! podcast, there are even more shake-ups headed our way.

Married at First Sight 2024 will be a shorter season

The first change is that MAFS 2024 is a shorter season, spanning just 10 weeks instead of its usual 11.

Due to the season being shorter, the infamous Girls’ and Boys’ nights were scrapped along with the additional week.

“There was basically no need for it because all the couples stayed on the show quite long anyway, so a reunion that early would have been weird,” one insider told host Megan Pustetto.

“The week it was meant to happen, Lauren [Dunn] was also back home in Perth and not filming, so it would have been lacklustre without her there, and none of the other brides would have really said much.”

ICYMI: Lauren took time out from the show to have emergency surgery due to a blood clot.

The source also added that due to Natalie Parham and Collins Christian, and Ash Galati and Madeleine Jevic being removed from the show “for mental health reasons“, it “would have been obvious if certain people were missing”.

The Partner Swap challenge was swapped out for Feedback Week on Married at First Sight 2024

The highly anticipated Partner Swap task has also been scrapped this season and swapped out with Feedback Week.

Couples just had dinner and drinks with each other instead of living together for three days,” a production source dished.

“The challenge copped a lot of backlash last year from the public because the situation would never happen in the real world.”

They added that there were “also a lot of contestants who refused to participate”.

“Also, the whole point of it is to pair contestants who have been feuding with each other. So obviously, Jack [Dunkley] would have been paired with either Lauren or Sara [Mesa],” the source continued.

However, given Lauren was away and Sara had accused Jack of “making unwanted sexual advances towards her”, producers agreed it “would have been wrongful duty of care and potentially unsafe” to pair her with Jack.

“So they just decided not to do it because there was no point.”

And it’s probably for the best, given Jack basically offered Tori Adams up for sex with the other grooms…
