The Bachelor’s Brittany Hockley has spoken out about her “slut-shaming” feud with FBOY Island host Abbie Chatfield.

ICYMI: Last December, Abbie slammed Kyle Sandilands and Brittany for some problematic comments they made about her during an interview with rapper Yung Gravy on The Kyle and Jackie O Show.

Months on from the debacle, the Life Uncut co-host has broken her silence on the issue, telling Stellar Magazine that she won’t be “wasting time and energy commenting on things happening around [her].”

“One thing I’ve realised over the past few months is that protecting my peace is far more important than weighing in on anything else that might be happening around me,” the 35-year-old said.

“I know who I am and the people in my life who I love and who matter know who I am. And I’m learning to not engage with any of it.

“Time and energy are precious commodities and I don’t [want to] waste them,” she added.

Abbie Chatfield BLASTS Kyle Sandilands and Brittany Hockley for ‘slut-shaming’ her on radio

Following The Kyle and Jackie O Show interview, Abbie took to her podcast, It’s a Lot to blast Kyle and Brittany for the “slut-shaming” incident.

The 27-year-old played the audio of Yung Gravy’s appearance on The Kyle and Jackie O Show, in which he mentioned to Kyle and Brittany that he has a “bit of a relationship beginning” with the TV personality.

“You and everyone else,” Kyle fired back, while Brittany added, “I have no doubt”.

Abbie, who was clearly unimpressed, told her listeners what she thought of the on-air comments.

“Kyle is starting all this tone but [for Brittany] to go along with the tone because you have nothing funny to say but slut shame.

“My reaction would be self-deprecating, not to be attacking,” Abbie continued. “It’s high school weird sh*t and it’s also encouraging women to pit themselves against each other.”

But it didn’t end there. Abbie then went on to say that she thought Brittany felt uneasy about chatting with Kyle.

“At best, I think Britt is feeling uncomfortable and is nervous about being with Kyle and going along with it.”

“At worst, she’s having this weird jealousy thing and trying to bring me down.” Ouch.

Brittany Hockley apologises to Abbie Chatfield for ‘slut-shaming’ her

After being called out by Abbie, Brittany took to Instagram to apologise for the “misogynistic tone” of her conversation with Kyle.

“Firstly, I want to apologise for the undercurrent misogynistic tones that the interview had,” Brittany wrote.

“The nature of live radio is unpredictable and often unplanned, which was the case with the direction that this conversation took.

“Live on radio I found myself in a position where Abbie and I were pitted against each other.

“This was not planned, and this was not something I felt comfortable with and I thought by saying as little as possible in the interview it would not add any fire to the situation.”

The reality star then explained that with “hindsight” she can see how her comments about Abbie were “naive”, “contradictory” and “not what [she stands] for.”

“It was not and never has been my intention to make anyone feel shameful for their dating or sex life,” she continued.

“As a woman who has championed female empowerment, relationship equality and sexual freedom over the past four years, I am deeply apologetic that this happened.”
