Brittany Hockley has apologised for not defending Abbie Chatfield over slut-shaming comments made by Kyle Sandilands.

ICYMI: On December 13, Abbie blasted the radio shock jock and current co-host Brittany for offensive comments they made about her during an interview with rapper Yung Gravy on The Kyle and Jackie O Show.

The Masked Singer judge then doubled down on the criticism of her fellow Bachelor star for “upholding patriarchal standards” while labelling Brittany a “pick me girl”.

Clearly feeling the heat of the whole drama (and most likely, Abbie’s passionate army of fans), Brittany took to Instagram to apologise for the “misogynistic tone” of her and Kyle’s conversation about the reality star.

“Firstly, I want to apologise for the undercurrent misogynistic tones that the interview had,” Brittany wrote.

“The nature of live radio is unpredictable and often unplanned, which was the case with the direction that this conversation took.

“Live on radio I found myself in a position where Abbie and I were pitted against each other. This was not planned, and this was not something I felt comfortable with and I thought by saying as little as possible in the interview it would not add any fire to the situation.”

The Life Uncut podcast host explained that with “hindsight” she can now see her comments about Abbie were “naive”, “contradictory” and “not what I stand for.”

“It was not and never has been my intention to make anyone feel shameful for their dating or sex life,” she continued.

“As a woman who has championed female empowerment, relationship equality and sexual freedom over the past four years, I am deeply apologetic that this happened.”

Brittany Hockley says she was “never notified” about Abbie Chatfield’s message

The Challenge star also addressed Abbie’s claims that she ignored her message, saying she was “never notified” about her attempts to reach out to her.

“Much has been said that Abbie reached out to me nine days ago to discuss this via message,” Brittany stated. “I had muted notifications, given the overwhelming volume of messages I receive each day.”

She then claimed that she has “since reached out” to Abbie, before finishing her apology by vowing to “do better.”

“I acknowledge that the standard you walk by is the standard you accept,” she wrote.

Brittany finished off the apology by adding she will “learn from this” and “do better in the future.”

Abbie Chatfield slams Brittany Hockley’s apology

Following Brittany’s public apology, the It’s A Lot podcast host took to Instagram to tear it apart.

“Sorry, but your internalised misogyny and insecurities (which resulted in your misogynistic comments) are the reason you felt “pitted” against me,” she hit back.

Abbie claimed Britt “didn’t feel shameful” after making the offensive comments and only realised the “VERY CLEAR ISSUE” after she was called out.

Abbie then expressed that not only did Brittany not defend her, but she also “added commentary” to the conversation.

“You weren’t silent. You asked if we had sexted after Kyle asked if I had sent nudes, you brought me up two more times in total,” she replied.

“Don’t blame the segment and live radio. Again, if you can’t hold your own in that environment, maybe it isn’t for you.”

Abbie Chatfield accused Brittany Hockley of not actually apologising to her

The reality star then hit back again in a third slide on her Instagram Story, accusing Brittany of not actually apologising and making ‘excuses.’

“I don’t see an apology to me. I don’t see any understanding of why what she and Kyle did was wrong, or an explanation to her audience,” she expressed.

“I just see an excuse of live radio, then a self-written character testimony, then a (tbh) fair reason why she didn’t see my DM, though we have messaged before.”

The Bachelor alum then reaffirmed her points saying, “Britt hasn’t apologised to me, FYI.”

Abbie Chatfield alluded that this wasn’t the first time Brittany Hockley had slut-shamed someone

Before signing off, Abbie also alluded that this wasn’t the first time Brittany had slut-shamed someone or made offensive comments.

“This is also, in my experience on [Bachelor in Paradise], repeated behaviour. I won’t say more but this whole thing hasn’t been shocking to me,” she wrote.
