Kyle Sandilands has insisted there’s no feud with Abbie Chatfield after she questioned why the radio shock jock is still on air after countless controversial comments.

The 51-year-old’s long list of controversies came to her attention after his use of an ableist slur during a recent broadcast, which she referenced in an interview with The Daily Telegraph on October 16.

“It’s continually disappointing and continually disgusting, the things that he says on air,” she said. “It’s as baffling to me as it is to everyone else.”

Taking to the airwaves during the October 18 episode of The Kyle and Jackie O Show, Kyle addressed Abbie’s comments and clarified that there was no bad blood between the pair.

“We’ve had her on this show. She’s a nice kid,” he said, noting that the 27-year-old is one of the few up-and-coming radio stars he respects and admires.

The only thing the father of one seemed to take issue with was The Daily Telegraph using Abbie to push their agenda to have him “cancelled”.

“Like, in all honesty, hardly anyone buys that sh*t,” he said of the publication. “I feel sorry for Abbie a bit because she’s had sleepless nights since she’s read these articles and she would have thought, ‘Sh*t, I’m not fighting with Kyle. They tricked me’.

“This is a kid who’s already got mental health issues. Why make her life worse? With your own bullsh*t newspaper agenda?”

Abbie Chatfield Previously Expressed She Was Nervous About What Kyle Sandilands Was Going to Say

Kyle’s olive branch follows Abbie taking to her Instagram Story to clarify what she meant by her comments in the Sydney newspaper.

“I was asked in an interview about my thoughts on Kyle Sandilands’ recent comments using ableist terms, I think it happened the day of the interview or the day before, so it was recent news,” she said.

“I responded in this tone of voice, like, ‘Yeah, look, I think it’s bizarre that he hasn’t been really reprimanded’.”

She then said that despite the narrative that she went on an “aggressive rant” about Kyle, that was not the case.

However, she was nervous nonetheless about how Kyle would react to the interview during his next broadcast.

“To be honest, I’m not looking forward to what he’s going to say tomorrow morning on the radio show or what he’s going to do,” she admitted.

What Did Abbie Chatfield Say In The Daily Telegraph Interview?

Currently thriving in the radio space herself, the host of Hot Nights with Abbie Chatfield was “disgusted” that Kyle wasn’t “cancelled” or “reprimanded” for his consistently inappropriate comments.

“It’s as baffling to me as it is to everyone else. I don’t know how he can continue. What he said during the Paralympics was awful, and then saying one of the night hosts probably had monkeypox.”

The new Masked Singer Australia judge believed many other radio stars wouldn’t get away with similar behaviour.

She suggested that “apathetic” listeners shrug off the shock jock’s remarks because “that’s just Kyle”.
