Married at First Sight Australia 2024‘s Ben Walters has revealed that producers MOCKED his ADHD during filming, which led to him getting a bad edit.

Over the years, MAFS participants have called producers out for their lack of “mental support”, with 2023 bride Bronte Schofield being the latest to slam the on-set psychiatrists for sharing their private chats with production.

And the unethical behaviour doesn’t stop there. During his tell-all in episode 379 of the So Dramatic! podcast, Ben admitted that the producers made fun of his mental disorder.

Married at First Sight‘s Ben says producers made fun of his ADHD

Speaking to host Megan Pustetto, Ben explained that he got distracted when talking to the camera because of his ADHD.

“I’ve always been reluctant to tell people that I’ve got ADHD because I don’t want to fall into victim mode and use that as an excuse in challenging situations,” he explained.

However, during filming, he got distracted and asked the producer to “keep still” so he could focus better.

“Her face lit up like a Christmas tree, and she started laughing. I said: ‘Do you find mental health funny?’. Then I got pissed off, and I just cut the interview and walked out,” the former groom recalled.

“I was upset, and I said: ‘This is very unprofessional, [I didn’t] sign up to be taken advantage of through my mental health. I thought this show was about relationships and love, not criticising someone for ADHD’.”

After that, Ben never worked with that producer again. However, he felt she got revenge on him by giving him a bad edit.

“I think they figured out what triggers to use and really amplified that to get those emotions out of me,” the tour guide said. “That’s why I’m so cramped up on the camera”.

MAFS’ Ben shares how he knew he was going to get a bad edit

Ben then shared how he figured out he was going to receive a bad edit during filming.

“I realised that I wasn’t going to be getting a great edit because when we’d film a scene, they’d just get Ellie [Dix] to talk,” he said, stating that producers never asked for his side of the story.

He also realised he wouldn’t be edited favourably when producers interviewed everyone except him at Jade Pywell and Ridge Barredo‘s wedding.

“There were numerous times when I thought, ‘Am I being cancelled, or is this just a coincidence?'” he remarked.

After the show’s track record, we’re not surprised…
